I recently wanted to try playing nwn2 again after a long break, and when I try to join any online game, I get the "CD Key Unauthorized" message every time. I've tried searching for different solutions to this error, but none of the supposed solutions to this problem have helped.
I bought NWN2 + Motb years ago, and roughly two years after that I bought the digital version of SoZ. In other words all my cd keys are legit. Also, last time I tried playing nwn2 online was roughly a year ago, and back then I didn't get this error (and never before that either).
Most threads discussing this error say it has to do with nwncdkey.ini. Supposedly you get this error if your cd keys are missing or in the wrong order in this file. Having said that, I've tried every possible combination and checked numerous times that my cd keys are correct. Not to mention that since I've always been able to play online before without needing to fiddle around with this file, I very much doubt it has anything to do with this.
I'm hoping that someone here has the solution. It would be really annoying if I'll be unable to play these games after having spent so much money on buying them. Any help would be appreciated.

The keys are case sensitive.

Thanks for the reply, but all my cd keys are written with capital letters. That is, both on the box and in nwncdkey.ini. I've also re-typed every cd-key by hand into the ini file just in case there would be some fishy symbols mixed in.

I bought dragon age origins ultimate edition and came with 2 keys, one for the game and one that is Bonus key.
My only problem is with the bonus key, the game is installed correctly, I used the first key to install it, and when I try to use the Bonus key here at this site, to get the extras, he accused that is already being used, please someone help me!

^^^ if I were you I would try the Dragon Age 1 forums, not the forums for Neverwinter Nights 2.

Does anyone have a clue what I could try to do to fix this error? I'd really like to play nwn2 online, and I simply cannot understand what's wrong here, considering that I've never before had this error. I've also tried re-installing the game many times, but it doesn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, you said you tried everything. And normally what happens when someone comes on and says "I tried everything" and people give suggestions, the response is "I TRIED EVERYTHING WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND YOU STUPID PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!" followed by them leaving.
Like this thread http://social.biowar...-5916517-1.html for example.
Did you try the things mentioned in that thread? Several people found solutions that are not the normal mismatch of keys or a Steam install failing to generate the .ini with the keys.
You could also try http://www.gearhack...._Problem_Solved

Thanks again for the reply. I merely said that I've tried every solution that I've come across, and naturally I'm hoping there is a solution that works for me. Having said that, those threads are not about the same topic. I was able to install the game just fine. I can also play single player without any issues. Like I stated in my first post, the problem I'm having is that I get the "CD Key Unauthorized" error when I try to join any online game. There's a specific persistent world I'd like to play on, but unfortunately I'm currently unable to do so.

I would suggest registering on the forums for the persistent world and posting. Since the master server for the game was taken down, many persistent worlds have come up with their own authorization schemes.

I've tried that as well, but the GM's didn't know what was wrong either. Also, considering that I get the same error when I try to join any multiplayer game, not just said pw, it makes me think that the problem is at my end.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I'd even be willing to buy a new copy of the game, but I'm unable to find one. The only one I've come across is at amazon, and it's ridiculously overpriced, not to mention that I would prefer a digital download.

I bought the neverwinter nights complete edition which also includes nwn2 + all expansions, and now I'm able to join online games again. I didn't even need to re-install the game, just had to replace the old serials in nwncdkey.ini with the new ones. It's too bad the old ones don't work (or at least one of them), but I can play online again so I'm happy.
