I am trying to decide whether to go xbox360 or PC.  My PC is an older Alienware with upgraded video (ATI2600).  My comp seems to meet the minimum reqs and plays recent games like Oblivion, Mass Effect 1 & NWN okay, just don't want to have to upgrade the PC to play the game.  Anyone know of a system tester for this game?

No official tester, but you can try yougamers.com to scan your PC's specs and it'll automatically compare them to the Minimum and recommended system, they'll also give you some more details/probabilities,such as : will you be able to run the game on high or medium graphics etc.

gah nisallik beat me to it,blast you! *shakes fist*

Thanks for the link, Nisallik. As I feared, my processor will not survive the Dark Spawn. I guess its the 360 for me. :)

I've been using alienware for the last few years so I wanna know what system/specs you're using?

It would have to be rather old as he has even upgraded his video card which only pushed him to minimum specs for just the video card.

Also, if you download the character creator, that has the same requirements, so if that doesn't start chugging on your preferred resolution and detail settigns, you should be OK.

Well, not exactly. There is not much going on in the character creator to cause much of a slow down. Now if we have huge AoE spells going off and a lot of action going on at the same time... that is where it will get you. For now we just have to trust the minimum specs, as Bioware has stated it can handle all the action.

I hope the yougamers thing isnt accurate, cause my comp wont be able to run it on recommended because of my Processor Performance, while I have a AMD Phenom X4 Quart-Core Processor 9850.

You will be fine Shiroukai. The main concern for this game is your video card.

my video card is more then fine, GeForce 9800 GX2. so no worries there.

well, if I do come across problems then I'll just have to upgrade my processor... If only I can remember what kind of motherboard I have again.

Could always research and see what capabilities of overclocking you can do. Not to brag, but I have an E8400 3 GHZ dualcore @ 4.5 GHZ. Free inexpensive upgrade. ;p

o_O This site is odd. It says I don't meet recommended requirements for either video card or processor.

I have a GeForce 9500 GT with 1gb of ram. It's higher than the one given in the recommended example.

My Processor is an Intel Duo, but it also has the same amount of memory as the recommended quad.

Huh? Anyone else know what's up?

FallenKal -- I wasn't surprised by my YG score, but that's cause my Proc/MB are about 5yrs old. Its a P4, 3.4Ghz, on an Intel D925XCV MB with 1GB memory. Like I said, I had no issues running Oblivion & NWN2 (after my Graphics Card upgrade). I've just been avoiding doing an MB/Proc upgrade as I have heard its a pain getting the OS (XP) to work. So I guess I will get the x360 version.

(1) Internet tester sites are usually wrong.
(2) The 9500GT is far, far slower than a 8800GT or GTS 512.  It's basically a rebadged 8600GT(S) -- 32 shaders instead of 112 or 128.
(3) You'll still run on medium settings, though.
(4) A modern dual-core above 2ghz should be fine, sayeth the devs.
(5) Read through the dev post compilation in my group below if you want.  :D

The P4 will quite likely work, actually.  Another gb of ram will speed up loading times, though I assume you'll still be better off than the poor console sods.

I am wondering if fps in the character creator is representative of the game itself. I am running win7 64bit with an E8400 @ 3.82Ghz, 4GB RAM, and (2) GTX 260s in SLI; and I am only getting 15-17 fps in the character creator with settings maxed and 8x AA. Considering that I get 40 fps in Crysis on Enthusiast settings with no AA, this seems a little funny to me.

Ah nice, Fraps runs in the tiny square spinny thing.

Sadly my i7 chip is not recognized by their application making my test invalid.

I have to say it and I know im new so more then likely what I am going to say might be taken as I being crude but honestly im not....In my eye. I see it as this. In todays market for xbox gaming is fine. But if you truly and honestly want to play games on the PC you have to keep cerrent with the tec. Now im not saying go out and spend 1000USD right now! *shakes fist* Heck no! And its not hard to upgrade a computer by your self more times then not its a simple change of board(s) maybe a reformate for the drive.

But what I can sugest should you and or any consider playing this on the personal computer is to A) Dont cry when a ten year old computer will not play it (though I know you are not Hankster I mean in general terms) and B) Go to NeweggDOTcom and TigerdirectDOTcom (chance the DOT to well a . *squints to see the itty bitty dot* its there just as small as Boo though.

Any ways. The reason for the two sites are there in my eye the best prices around for computer needs, and I have never had any problems with eaither of them. Always helpful and always ready to exchange should a part be bad (for free I might add) So in a small closing. I am Biased on what to play the games on (PC)..though I hope I didnt come off as rude, but more helpful then any thing

There are other vendors I'd check before TigerDirect. ;)

I've tried to compile a list of vendors and review resources here.
