Flem1 if I could and if you would let me I would kiss you. My god thats a great list *keeps the list for his own needs* Thank you ever so much

If you want to keep your machine quiet go to SPCR. They review new computer parts/cases/coolingsystems in order to create a stable, quite, powerful machine. Nothing like the sound of your fans destroying immersion.

There are other vendors I'd check before TigerDirect. ;)

I've tried to compile a list of vendors and review resources here.

I have found that Amazon is highly competetive in the PC component market, or any market for that matter. Sometimes they don't charge state tax, and you usually don't have to pay shipping. You may find the item cheaper on other sites like newegg, but when you factor in sales tax and shipping you end up spending more. Of course this isn't always the case, but it pays to compare a bit.

o_O This site is odd. It says I don't meet recommended requirements for either video card or processor.

I have a GeForce 9500 GT with 1gb of ram. It's higher than the one given in the recommended example.

My Processor is an Intel Duo, but it also has the same amount of memory as the recommended quad.

Huh? Anyone else know what's up?

The problem with GeForce cards is that people usually only look at the first number, nod and move on. In actuality, it is the second number that is telling of how good the card is. 9500 is actually worse than a 8700.

I am wondering if fps in the character creator is representative of the game itself. I am running win7 64bit with an E8400 @ 3.82Ghz, 4GB RAM, and (2) GTX 260s in SLI; and I am only getting 15-17 fps in the character creator with settings maxed and 8x AA. Considering that I get 40 fps in Crysis on Enthusiast settings with no AA, this seems a little funny to me.

Yeah dude thats bad, somethings wrong.  I have a 3.16 gig, 4g ram ( I forget if its ddr3 or 4), and a 9800GT and I'm running maxed at 40+ fps (8x AA, 16xAF, etc), however I'm running a rez made for a HDTV (1440x900) so thats about 1 million pixels less that has to be rendered than 1080p (1280x1080).  However thats out of like 13 million total, so its about 9% less instensive to run, but thats the native computer monitor rez for my HDTV.

I noticed you are running 64bit windows 7.  I use 64bit vista.

There is something wrong if your CC is giving you only 15ish FPS with everything turned up when you have to GTX 260s. What resolution are you running it at?

I get 50+ fps with everything maxed on my i7 920(not OC'd), 6 gb ddr 3 corsair ram, and an 8800GTS 640mb running at 1680x1050 on Windows 7 64bit. Maybe it is the SLI causing problems?

My specs are as follows:

Pentium 3.2D

4Gb DDR2 RAM

GeForce 8600GT XXX Extreme Edition

Theoretically it should run on around normal, which would be fine as I am not a multi-millionaire yet.

I rate that if I can run Mirrors Edge and the Witcher on almost full I should be fine?

Will I? (Crosses fingers and begins praying)

woooh, more than meet recommended, Core i7 940 chip at stock speeds (contemplating overclocking at some point) a single GTX 260 (216 cores) and 6gb of ram. also running Windows 7 64-bit Release Candidate. the Character Creator ran smooth as butter for me, so i'm highly optimistic, and most likely i'll be upgrading my video card at some point in a couple months depending on what nvidia has up it's sleeve.

How do you check your FPS in the CC?

I'm worried about being sunk by my video card. I bought a brand new computer a month ago.

I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 and 6GB of ram, but my graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce g100 that came with it.

I want the game to run smoothly and am hoping my computer can handle it since I won't have the resources to upgrade the card for a few months.

The amount of memory the card has? The type of memory it runs (I think mine said ddr3)? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I honestly don't know what you mean when you say second number. I'd always assumed the 9500 or 8800 or 9800 or whatever was what determined how good it was, well, that plus the amount of memory in the card.

I'm gonna be totally hosed if you can't go by the first number at all when you're shopping for a video card.

it says i can run it but will need to run at low resolution and low detail.

AMD 9750 quadcore rated at 2.4Ghz with a gtx260 and 4GB or RAM. Surely that is wrong?

The first digit indicates the "generation" of the card, while the second digit indicates the series (which is a rough measure of whether it's a high- or low-end card).

For example, a 9500 is a mid-range 9th gen card, while an 8800 is a high-end 8th gen.

Yes, it is wrong. The auto-detect settings in the CC are different than those in final game, according to the devs, so I wouldn't be too worried with your sweet setup.

Ahhhh, thanks Jab0r! I'm a huge n00b at this. Only built my first pc recently. At least I know what to look for, now. Although I should be reasonably set to play DA, just not at high settings.
