I never understood the reasoning behind not allowing you to respec in Dragon Age: Origins, and one of my favorite things about Awakening was the addition of simple respec tomes.

DA:II was a step in the right direction with respecs being available at launch, but if I hadn't been suckered into preordering the Collector's Edition, I would likely have gone the entirety of DA:II without respecializations. I'm not claiming to speak for everyone, but I found the rest of the DLC to be lackluster used-sales prevention. /opinions.

Could we just have a simple way to respec at minimal cost to the player within the base game at launch? Perhaps some curio trader in a big city offers an item that can reset all of your skill points. Experimentation with different stats distributions and abilities is really fun for me, especially if the game has multiple interesting ways to play the same class.

Thoughts?

Being able to respec is nice. But.. It makes me wonder if it will work out this time around.

Specializations are actually supposed to be significant, and mean something this time around. Respecing in the middle of the game might mess things up.

I want them to bring back shape shifting. And to make it good this time.

And to be able to use it in the story. Like turning into a bird to sneak inside an "impenetrable" castle.
