What is the point of playing with the Saber when you have a Paladin?

Reason 1: Because of that spicy sound of pluging something sharp into your enemy's guts\\forehead.

Yeah but Paladin's DPS is still better than Saber's one. I saw that form the weapons stats sheet.

Theorycrafting DPS is not really comparable to in-game DPS. I think I kill things faster with my Saber imo.

Basically two on par ultra-rares, will come down to what you prefer with your play style. I hate humping ammo boxes (almost never rock the Harrier) so will always go with the Saber.

One side note. That right there is why I love my ppr x. Just cut the middle man out all together.

Need me some more PPR upgrades. Sometimes I prefer headshot burst damage to the wind up of the PPR though.

If sound was any indication of a great weapon, my penis would sing America the Beautiful.

So I don't have to keep running to ammo boxes. Dat sound. Damage boost from TGI cloak.

It truly does sound like intercourse for my ears.

The paladin is annoying, I don't like the 3 shot clip.
And the saber is great on the Turians

The Saber is amazing about the Ghost, but other than that, OP is right. The Saber should have either innate AP or a headshot multiplier to make up for the fact that it's damage is barely comparable to a Carnifex with Heavy Barrel.

The Paladin and Saber do extremely similar base damage per shot, with similar accuracy.

The Paladin shoots faster, but the Saber has more shots in the clip. This makes these guns pretty much even in terms of DPS overall.

The Paladin also weighs a heck of a lot less.

The Paladin, though, has access to the Pistol Heavy Barrel, allowing it to get higher damage and DPS than the Saber. It also has access to ULM, so it equippable on a hell of a lot more classes than Saber. (Note: these two mods shouldn't be used together on this gun though!)

So unless you're on a TGI with the AR specific damage boost, or you're on a class with a temporary boost like Adrenaline Rush or Marksman to take advantage of the Saber's higher clip, there isn't really any reason to take Saber over a similar level Paladin except aesthetics.

Hell if your Saber is low level, you might be better off with Carnifex X + HB + Clip

More ammo, 90% AP with HVB, eargasming sound. I only use the Saber on characters that do not need high cooldown rates and the Paladin on power-reliant characters.

Oh I forgot one thing: Variety

90% AP

Ok so the only advantage of the Saber kills my cooldowns.

Heavy pistols have their barrel with 40% damage, isn't it better? and cooldowns are not too bad with it on paladin.

No.

Or you hate humping ammo boxes, or you want a pistol secondary for a specific purpose (Acolyte, Scorpion etc), or your Saber is significantly of a higher level than your Paladin (was true for me till some recent Paladin cards) etc.

Because I find the Paladin completely unusable.

I don't know why, I just can't stand it.

Another reason would probably be sustained fire. The Paladin has to be reloaded constantly, but the Saber just keeps on going.

Don't focus too much on stats, try out weapons and use the one that feels better.

It is also a better choice for Human Soldier with Frag nades. Warfighter package wins with Pistol Rail amp, Saber is a better choice than the Paladin for Marksman/Adrenaline Rush as well.

Why are people bringing up AP? Extended Barrel adds more damage vs Armor than 100% AP when damage  per bullet is >200. You should not be taking AP mods on these guns...

- More rounds per clip, i.e. less reloading.
- The sound
- Higher ammo capacity. Less leaving the action to find a crate.
- The sound
- AR damage bonus on TGI. Still works great on any other class.
- The sound
- Stuns mooks
- The sound

Seriously, slap on a damage and ammo mod and the Saber chars that aren't too dependent on cooldown.

The Paladin is a fantastic weapon. I would use it so much more if I didn't run U/U/G/P all the time.

There is always that chance you will get Cerberus and that is why I bring the Acolyte as a sidearm. Unfortunately, the Paladin can't handle Phantoms the way the Acolyte can.

. Can be used at any range, has no recoil. Only donwside is the low ammo count. You couldn't be more wrong about it not being accurate.

They're pretty similar guns. The Saber has a bigger clip and profits a lot more from HM, DM or Marksman. The Paladin is lighter and can be used on any class while having a very small clip.

On weapon classes it's Saber > Paladin
On anything else it's Paladin > Saber

The difference isn't really big, though.

Back before several weapon buffs and kit nerfs (I'm talking late June/early July) you could dish out just over 18k with a single mag of the Saber using the extended magazine, around 12k without it. A lot has changed since then, but what hasn't changed is the Saber is much better at extended engagements with boss units and trooper spawn wipes. While you are running for an ammo box, the Saber user is wiping out another spawn.

I sure will if I wanna shoot through cover or do double damage to Atlases. Either the mod or AP/Drill ammo (or both for lulzy cover penetration).
