Saber was one of my first URs unlocked and I still love the thing even though it's hard to justify using at the measly level I have it at. Stupid RNG.

Unless you are looking into buffing it. That must be it. You guys wouldn't DARE nerf the Ultra Rare Saber, one of the very very few truly great ARs. Would you?

Not that the saber needs it but a small buff would be welcome. I love the saber (and happy mine is at x), but I don't see it all that often. Thing is a perfect match on the tgi. The gun is one of the easiest to master head shots with. It feels alot like a scopless sr. One thing the description says that is very true, this thing is a marksmen rifle. I've only ever heard bad things on this rifle from people who refuse to take time to learn to actually aim the thing.

If it's a nerf? Sure.. it would just make the Harrier even better since there won't be any more competition.

I'd be very surprised if its a nerf. Its not a rampantly used gun at all.

Should be a good surprise, maybe a damage buff and a rate of fire decrease or something like that.

I definitely see a little room for improvement. I have all my rares maxed out, but most of my URs are levels I-III and I don't have a Harrier at all. At level III the dps just isn't justified above bronze - even headshots won't kill mooks, and bosses eat too many of your bullets. I'm not a great fan of pistols, but my Carnifex definitely and obviously outperforms it, my Paladin II outperforms it, my mattock outperforms it, etc. etc.

When I was mostly playing bronze the thing was beastly (and it was only level I then) - it did enough damage to consistently stagger, and could 1-2 shot nearly everything. I moved up to silver and I had to leave it behind, and now I'm on gold and I keep on trying to use it on various classes and it just never seems to do enough damage.

I don't think it needs much improvement, assuming that at level X the thing is just as awesome as everyone says it is. I think what it mostly needs is a compression of the upgrade range, so that it's worth using at lower levels.

About the topic question:

Well, guns don't go into battle by themselves. It all depends on what character, what build, what cooldown level and what gear you use. When you take everything into account, it makes all the difference in the world choosing between those guns.

There's a lot more to it than just DPS and weight.

The Saber is better at setting up combos, sounds sexier, and has more ammo. Try it with disruptor ammo on an Engineer versus Geth. The GE is perfect for it.
