Except at this point even a moderately thorough player doesn't need more assets. So Omega becomes hours of helping a character I don't like save a place I don't care for from a character I do like that has been derailed.
Well, from a non-metagaming, RP perspective, Shep would want everything she could get before going after the Reapers on Earth.
Not saying you don't have a point, but a reason for doing it does exist, even if your Shep dislikes Aria.
Who cares about Aria ?

And that help will change anything ?
Different colour at the end ?
Different war assets cinematics ?
Anything ?
I DON'T THINK SO.

Anyway the only thing I'm curious about is how does Aria gets Shepard away from fighting the war and risking his/her life to take back Omega, which in the big scheme of things seems largely unimportant. I hope they have a decent reason for Omega being important instead of Shepard helping take it back because Aria asked.
It's a side mission that will provide addtional war assets (which Shepard does need). Do you feel the same about the other side missions that are originally in the game? Shepard risks his life in some of those also.
DLC's never have an impact on any of the games main plots.
Leviathan only added a couple quips by the catalyst at the end.
DLC's need to have a more invasive nature on a game, they need to be INTEGRATED into a game, not simply ADDED ON TOP.
Expansion packs were add-ons, as i've defined here, but were wholly inclusive of themselves. They had a separate plot, side quests within itself. I use Hordes of the Underdark for Neverwinter Nights as an example. It alone could almost have been an entire game. Probably the best game add-on/expansion pack I've ever played of any series.
The modern model needs to take the next step, raise the bar: make DLC's integrate more fully into the original narative than simply adding a 'Lego' on top.

sure .. you are right
but what has this p**shole to offer? .. red sand, floosies, criminals, a decent nightclub, a black market and salvage. the mercs of omega are already on my side. that leaves only the gangs - more cannon fodder.
really ... aria has to give me something good before i even consider joining in. the prospect of getting her into the pillows is not enough - aria uses her charms on a regular baese, to convince people to follow her - but she never "fulfills" her promise.

Shepard risks his life in every mission, but at least in game we're given reasons for Shepard to do side missions. Pick up experimental reaper tech or secure an important facility that would be crippling if lost. Sure you could make the arguement that these are below a level of importance that Shepard should be focusing on and someone else should be doing this, but at least they give you a reason. I want to see something like that for Omega not just, "I'm going back to Omega Shepard, help me because I'm Aria."

No! We must let Bioware know we are not buying their products! We must complain and make them want to cry so we can feel validated!

Oh, yes I want to let them know. Because I am precisely the kind of "buy everything, including DLC, comics, novels, and merch" they love. And they finally lost me. I want them to know why.
They do know, they just don't care.
ps. You don't think I was the same way? Unless they "wow" me with some upcoming ME2 character related DLC, they won't get a dime.

That just doesn't cut it for me. I'm sure there's lots of Cerberus facilities in the galaxy where we could go check out what Cerberus is up to. Doesn't mean it's worth my time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing this DLC for not having a reason if there isn't one. I just hope there is a reason. That's all.
