I just finished The Hobbit.

Books I enjoyed: Lord of The Rings trilogy, various history books including travelling guides like Lonely Planet, World War Z, various language books and audio CD's, every Harry Potter book at least 4 times minimum and a few physics books including Higher National Engineering (did you know someone tried to sell that for a grand on Ebay? Also saw them being sold for at least 100 quid) and Michio Kaku's most recent book (black cover with purple writing).

I like fantasy, sci-fi, cyber punk, facts on Science or Medicine, fun facts, language learning (dislike Michel, barely understand him), culture/travelling and horror

Not interested in porn unless free keys for websites, children books like Biff, Chip and Kipper and no romance.

Budget - 30 quid.

Yes, this is an excellent book series!

A few more I'd recommend if you are into science fiction:

A Canticle for Leibowitz
Hainish Cycle series (Planet of Exile, Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed)
Dark Tower series
Alliance-Union series by C.J. Cherryh (Cyteen, Regenesis, Finity's End)
Ringworld series
Anything by Robert A. Heinlein (The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Puppet Masters, Stranger in a Strange Land)
The Host
Ender's Game series

Try out The Last Wish. Afterward, though, don't read Blood of Elves until you've read the fan translation of The Sword of Destiny. Trust me when I say you don't want to.

World War Z was an amazing book.

Also, if you check out Joe Abercrombie's First Law series, you will likely love what you see.

Any history book by Paul Johnson, but especially A History of the American People (link is to Amazon UK. Prices are better elsewhere).

The Games of Thrones series is great, and I also love Dragonlance Chronicles: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, Dragons of Spring Dawning

The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind is excellent, although it is a series of... twelve books I think, so it might be too expensive for you if you have to buy them all. But they're really good, so you should definitely give the first book a try.;)

The Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud is also great. Very funny books, with a good fantasy story as well.

A Song of Fire and Ice and Ranger's Apprentice are the only ones I can think of right now.

The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss (they're the first two books of The Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy)

I'm currently reading this.:) So far it does seem very good. I didn't realize it was the first book of a trilogy though. Now I have to hunt for the next part!

I could recommend the Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop if you're looking for fantasy. Also a good read (imo) is the Posleen War by John Ringo which is a (military)-sci-fi series.

Something amusing to read. I don't agree with him on some matters, but still better than typical 21th century ...

Frank Herbert's Dune. Most definitely Dune (given your tastes - but only the first book is greatest).
