If you are trolling: Well done.

If you are not: So, the Javelin is a hard-to-use weapon. It weighs more than a bunch of bricks in a sack made of more bricks, has a brief delay between the pull of the trigger and the actual shot, has very few pieces of spare ammo and only can load one shot into its chamber at a time, and you think it's too much to handle because it offers loads of damage in return? You must be crazy.

That's the purpose of being a sniper. Besides, the gun has a beast of a reload.

Reload cancel.... It makes a huge difference. It's like a completely different gun.

I agree with you the Javelin is ridiculous. I've played a lot of shooters in my time but never seen one that required me to hold down the fire button before it decided to shoot.

Anyway! I thank you for this thread to be honest. I dont snipe often. However lately I've been using it because I am fresh out of shotgun amps. So trying to use these sniper amps I got laying around. I've only been using Drill rounds. Now I know better 

The firing delay actually helps you once you get used to it. It prevents me from taking bad shots a lot. 

If  you're on gold, the phasic rounds III might be better than the drill. I wasn't able to body shot a gold hunter to death with just phasic rounds II one time... Headshots seemed to do the trick though...

Anyways, I don't need that much penetration. I might go searching on certain maps to see if I can find some nice thick walls to take advantage of drill rounds though.

Yep that's why I was using Drill rounds. I was running Firebase Jade and sniping Phantoms through all kinds of walls. Felt so awesome.

But I was naive. Never thought to try Phasic rounds. Just did a search and found lots of great info. So glad I clicked on this thread now lol

So yeah- I cant comment on whether or not this gun is OP now. I've never used it fully.

I seem to recall the mechanic happening decently often in the non realistic games that I tend to favour(CS is okay, though).

Not so much a balancing thing as it is just a unique mechanic. The Javelin was weaker per shot than the Widow was at launch anyway, so I doubt if it was to balance the power out.

Its a freaking SNIPER RIFLE it's is supposed to kill most things in one or two shots, the javelin and widow are the only true sniper rifles left in the game, and you are not touching them.

So then are you saying its OP only on infiltrators? The last time I checked being OP means on every character regardless of character evolution.

Actually, OP means overpowered. It's overpowered if it's overpowered. Simple as that.

The Javelin is balanced by the fact that it has a pitiful amount of spare ammo (5 shots at I, I believe), it weighs a metric ton, it has to charge slightly before it shoots, and it's a one shot rifle so if you miss you're screwed. It's not OP and it won't be touched.

Anyway OP what difficulty are you talking about that you can 3 shot an Atlas? Gold? or below. 

 

You can actually 2 shot an Atlas on Gold with the Javelin.  Rare but it happens.

It seems very possible with an ammo type that gives more damage than phasic rounds. I think Jay said that you couldn't in a thread I made about the Javelin before.... Go insult him now.

If you go SR Piercing V, High Velocity Barrel V you get 3.7m of cover penetration on the Javelin, and can run Warp or Phasic Ammo (depending on enemy type...).

Javelin is not OP. It is the Claymore of the Sniper Rifles. You need to be good, you need to know reload cancelling & enemies move fast so you have to be skilled to hit them

& it is too heavy to be used on anything except Infiltrators, Destroyer, Demolisher.

& I am not the biggest fan of the Javelin here. I prefer Black Widow.
