I honestly wanted and hoped that
Maraas could be a companion for DA3. I played DA2 before DA:O and wanted
a qunari romance-able companion ever since meeting Maraas, the Arishok,
and Katojan... but mostly Maraas. There seemed like such a depth of
story behind his remarks in Act 3. I think he says something like "Life
is comfortably empty."
But yes, male qunari are hot [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie] ...
people can fangirl over Alistair or Kaiden; I can fangirl over qunari.
But just like those fans, I see more to them than just their sex appeal
(see above).
Speaking of sex... this seems to be a topic that
comes up frequently when discussing a qunari LI. Which is kind of weird,
but okay. Anyway, many large people still have sex (by "large" I mean
not just 7 foot or more but people with giantism). And sex does not
always equal vaginal or anal intercourse. Many couples, especially same
sex couples, do not engage in either.
Very,
very well aware of that, being on the GLBT spectrum.
My comment was to the fact that the Kossith men are quite large
overall- stature, skeletal structure, and musculature, which
tends to translate to other areas, everything usually being
somewhat balanced in proportion. Pointing out exceptions doesn't really
change the general assumption that a species that is a fair bit larger
than human average would be larger in all areas as well. And, well, it
was kind of a joke, what with mentioning a "balm" anyway. I didn't
specifically sit down and think to myself what kind of junk they've got
down there.
Anyway, I really like the overall look of the
Kossith. To me, Sten in Origins was just another human, no different
than the Chasind you see. I had no idea he was supposed to actually be a
different species until I started up DA2 and saw the Qunari there. I
like Ketojan's look much more than I liked Sten's. Sten was an
interesting character in his own right, my "canon" Dalish elf rogue
warden eventually earned his respect, even if they disagreed about magic
and freedom and so on, however, his design I found unremarkable.
(Admittedly, in my own creative endeavors, my species tend to be very
distinguishable from each other- which comes down to the same complaint
about DAO elves looking far too human, a complaint I agree
with, I MUCH prefer the DA2 design, just like I prefer the DA2 Kossith,
they are very clearly distinct and different, but still with basic
similarities you could claim shows them coming from a common evolutionary
ancestor, but you can't accidentally mistake one for the other.)
I would like to see a Kossith outside the Qun (preferably male, due to my own identity and preference when playing games that give me that choice) that is on a path of growth, learning about the outside world and that it isn't such a "festering pustule" afterall, that mages aren't cattle or slaves to be tortured and then tossed aside. A mage Kossith coming to terms with what they are and learning they can be a good person without all the chains and collars would be fun to see. My current playthrough is a force/spirit female mage that abhors blood magic but otherwise feels mages should be free, and felt completely helpless as Ketojan immolated himself after asserting how horrible and tainted he was. Pure brainwashed BS, just as Anders stated, and being able to do nothing to help or change his mind makes me simply despise that quest every time it pops up and I can't avoid it.
I want something to clear that nasty taste out of my mouth.
