It should be the usual - you get a message from Aria at your terminal, that's how I got it. I guess since she starts out on the Citadel then it has to be before the Citadel .. er .. goes away, and it obviously has to be after you first meet her in Purgatory, but other than that ..

Yeah I just found out getting an email is how you start the DLC but I didn't get one. I came here because the first thing i assumed was that i needed to be further in the story to start it but I'm re-downloading now, hopefully it works.
