Please reinstall game and try again."
My configuration:

I'm assuming the game is installed in your OS drive, with no partitions?

Is it installed in the default directory? Are you using a NoCD patch? Have you tried re-installing the game? Does the game show up in the Add/Remove programs menu in the control panel?

I figured it out somewhere hidden online.
The problem was that I don't have a disc drive, so I first installed it on a computer
with one, then copied over the files on a thumb drive, then I just use a virtual drive
to play the game for the authentication (should have just done that to install it), and
this didn't create a path in the registry.
So for anyone with a similar problem (of course I only intend this advice to people who
actually bought the game),
run 'regedit'
then create a new key in hkey_local_user, SOFTWARE, then wow[somenumbers],
called BioWare (if it's not already there), then a key in it called Dragon Age, then
create a string called Path, and the value as the directory Dragon Age is in.
Hope that helps.

Kenopop, you are a lifesaver!!!!
I had almost the same problem
Was kinda frustrated since I couldnt install any patch at all as it kept telling me to reinstall, and I bought the Return to Ostagar DLC, which required the 1.2patch.
Thanks again mate!

Could someone please provide an example of the directory path they used. Also did you have to create the keys Bioware and Dragon Age in regedit

Just wanted to say, you're all kinds of awesome! I downloaded Return to Ostagar today and couldn't make it work because my disk version was too old but I also couldn't install the patch. I'm running DA from a plug-in external hard drive.
Again, thank you so much, Kenopop, it finally worked!
