I have a question:
Has anybody figured out how they work? Since they do not work like most of the textures, having a specific diffuse map, the have sort of a RGB heavy texture(see below)
Wich makes it really hard to edit it, since I cant even tell what Iam supposed to edit.
Editing the armor so it looks like the Onyx armor from ME isnt that probelmatic, since I have the original texture right here.
However, I cant edit the texture from the Phoenix armor like with other armors.
Any suggestions?

*EDIT*
I have a theory regarding those maps. If Iam correct, those are just the tint maps, meaning that you cant actually edit the armor in the way you can do with most, because the model is actually used for more than one armor.
One of those is the Phoenix armor, the Merc armor and a couple of others. After I looked at more of the files, it appears that either the model ITSELF holds the relevant color information, or the game tells the armor to tint intself onRender.
In both cases I would have no idea how to solve the problem. Sorry
I already tried to change the "tint" values in the savefiles, but of course that only applies to armorpieces that you aquire ingame. Armor like Phoenix is not affected.
*EDIT II*
Iam on the right track it seems, the textures used for the Phoenix armor are tint maps. Now I have to figure out how to use them. If everything goes well, I might be able to pull this off.
*EDIT III*
I think Iam making progress, I was able to paint the armor but working with tintmaps is uncharted tererritory for me.
*EDIT IV*
Though I made some progress, it appears that there is no way to change the actual texture. Iam able to change the structure, but I cant change the color.
Since I have no real way to alter the texture, I cant follow this route. I have to look for alternatives.
*EDIT V*
After a sleepless night, I finally figured it out. But as mentioned below, this is the best I can do. Sorry people
