I played with Feneckus today, first time I recall seeing a BSNer in a game (though I only realized where I knew the name from just now). He scored about 250,000 points in a gold pug.

TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND POINTS! How is that even possible? If I end up in a particularly horrible pug and have to carry them, I might end up with 150,000, tops. And this wasn't a horrible pug. All of us were doing fine, albeit with slightly lower than usual scores because Feneckus apparently had a point magnet stored somewhere on his person.

It's only recently that I've become good at playing gold. I can now take almost any character to gold and make extraction, and not feel like a dead weight, even with non-favoured kits. With my favoured kits I can easily carry a bad pug. But today, I felt as useless as the day I first tried gold.

I quit the lobby after the game, because playing with someone who might as well be playing solo for all the difference you're making isn't fun. Sure, it's easy credits, but also boring. Posted Image

How anyone can get this good at a game is beyond me. Posted Image

You haven't played with Jay ;)

But yeah, playing with Feneckus is great fun (only did that once though).

Had a near identical experience with "Diablerist", I felt shame when he doubled my score.
Before this I thought I was a good player who could drag a group of PUG fail to the credits but...
Some players are simply in a class of their own.

It's even worse when there's two of them.

In games with insanely good people I make it a goal to come in second no matter what. Typically, I'm happy if I score over 100k without using more than a rocket or two.

Nothing like being in a PUG with someone like that make you feel like an utter noob again.

PUGs are the real challenge folks. If you play with your friends, then this game's Easy Mode.

Yeah, experiences like that can be tiring. I'm on Xbox rather than PC, but I've been in games with players like Ashen Earth, Disciple888, and Kalas321 from here, and they are just too damned good. I usually still manage to contribute somewhat, but I know that the match wouldn't really go any worse if I wasn't there. People who are just too damned good don't end up being as fun to play with unless they're using classes that they aren't fan-****ing-tastic with.

I like the folks I play with regularly most nights. oXTheReverendXo and JackCrapper are both substantially better than I am, but there's room for all of us to contribute each match. I also feel less self-conscious about how often I die, because oXTheReverendXo dies nearly as much as I do.

250k points is possible by being a boss. :P These days if I PUG I get between 200 and 275k each game.

If Feneckus makes you feel like a noob though, try playing with Jay. >:(

Meh, never happened to me, rarely I can even (marginally) outscore him.

I'm sorry it was no fun for you, that certainly wasn't my intention.

Yep. That guy is far better than me or anyone else for that matter. He's a machine. He can make good players feel like noobs who have only played a couple of gold games.

That sounds about right I'm typically in the 100K to 150K range on a PUG gold which is all I really play. Depending on the objectives though some games go so quick that nobody is over 100K. I think if you're scoring around 60K + you are pulling weight and helping the team. 250K is boss though.

Jay doesn't like Plat unless he's trying to speed run or break some kind of record. Neither do I actually.

And you can see Jay and Stentron duo Plat if you like. In 15:22. Can't get a better 2-man team than that IMO.

This only happens with me when I play with Gold pugs in the week. Most I have scored in pugs has been 210k. That's only with pugs though.

I play mostly all Platinum with all very skilled players so we are all raking in 100k - 170K minimum across the board which is cool since it kind of shows everyone at the same skill level and everyone feels good about their contributions since its pretty much even. We have all outscored each other left and right though so in all honesty..when we play the score doesn't really matter.

Any of the PUG's I used to play, when we would wipe it would go like this:

Waves go smoothly and fairly quickly
I get grabbed
Instant wipe on same wave, even if very little left in the spawn budget.

<_< My thoughts at the time: WTF? How do these guys even do silver without me?
