I don't ever have to worry about this because of players of that caliber do not exist on PS3. My highest gold score ever was about 183K with my Claymore toting Female Human Soldier, and I've only seen other people post higher scores on probably less than 5 occasions. If there are PS3 players going around topping 200K on a regular basis, they most certainly aren't playing gold PUGs.
Have you heard of this guy TMB903? I would say he's in that class of player definitely.

That's only possible if you're deliberately farming objective waves for points AND your team wasn't killing anything either.
And I've talked to a few people who have played with him, and I've watched some of his videos.
He's not great. Good player, but not great.
He's also a retard who can't read, can't pronounce basic English words and is just generally really moronic and cliched in his videos.

The best player I've played with was Feneckus. Never played with Jay, but if Feneckus can turn me into a noobish bronze casual player, Jay would turn me into what? An Amoeba?

Where once I was decent in twitchy games like Quake 1, Quake 2, Unreal Tourney - your reflexes just slow down. Your micro suffers too (for those whom play RTS). Just drag select all and attack lol.
To stay on topic, have never played with anyone from BSN, except one or two from the South East Asia group. Must be a geographic & Time zone factor

I just hold stupid people in really low opinion. Anyone who reads the word "biotic" and says "bionic" is a moron. Anyone who says the word "acolyte" as "alkalit" is a moron. People who pronouce the word "Scimitar" as "skimitar"....
If his second, or third language was English, I would understand.
Poor English from native speakers is really inexcusable.
But let me guess, you're a jumpin' fanboy.... You probably think the world is flat too, don't you?

There is a finite amount of points you earn in non-objective waves. Objective waves and extraction can be endless and that's where the point totals come from. Not saying this was the case, but a pro-longed objective round can lead to higher XP totals... whether it takes too long to deliver the pizza, get in the hack etc.
as i understand it you can increase the amount of spawns by quickly wiping out the spawn points. I suspect something like this is happening.

No, every non-objective wave has a wave budget, once that budget for units has been used up no more spawn. How fast you kill them is irrelevant, enemies keep spawning until the wave budget is gone. What type of units spawn depends on the wave, faction and difficulty, with variances. Killing tougher enemies depleted the wave budget faster; killing the weakest enemies will deplete the wave budget much more slowly (this is why pug games take longer, most pugs don't touch bosses and go for the easy stuff; thus prolonging the wave unless they are proficient at tracking down respawned mooks).
Blowing up spawns on objective waves will keep those units respawning until the objective is complete, at which point enemy units will stop respawning and the wave can be completed.

This sounds kinda meaningless. Not even a screenshot?
Look, people, first of all, the "complaint" in my original post was tongue in cheek. I didn't mind playing with Feneckus, though it did make me feel rather like part of the scenery. I don't remember the exact specifics of the match (I played a bunch so I may be conflating a few different ones), but iirc I was playing a Phoenix Adept (which I had never used on gold before) because I finally decided to finish Biotic Mastery. It was kind of frustrating seeing a brute, throwing singularity, getting ready to smash and... oh, it's dead already, never mind. Despite these conditions, I still came second with about 80k iirc.
I don't remember dying very often, nor do I remember anyone else dying very often, and no one wiped in any wave. In my experience, that's a good team. A bad team, which are all too common, are the ones where I have 10 revives by wave 3.
Basically, my skill level at the moment is such that I can carry almost any pug if I'm playing a comfortable character, and do pretty well with almost any character provided there is at least one other person in the pug who isn't complete crap. My only weak spot are the collectors; I cannot solo the later waves with collectors, so 9 out of 10 times if collectors come up in a gold pug, we won't make it. This is compared to a few months ago, when if I was the top scorer in silver by about wave 5, it was a pretty good indication we weren't going to extract.
I'm 31 years old, since some people have been mentioning their ages as if it means something, and the last time I played a shooter before Mass Effect was the original Doom (and I mostly just used cheats on that). When I first played ME1, I died literally dozens of times in each mission, playing on casual difficulty (disarming the bombs on Eden Prime... that took me forever). When I started the MP, I thought Bronze was incredibly hard and Silver felt utterly impossible. So yeah, I think I've gotten pretty good by now, even if I'm obviously not in the same league as some of the other guys in this thread.
Listen man, I hear you. I'm not exactly a plebian at this game either, you sound like you're a little better than me but not too much, and you shouldn't let the people implying that you suck get you down. I tend to screen the scores from notable games I played in. Let me show you a couple.
The first is from a PUG I just finished a few minutes ago.

I was playing a GI with a Raider.
The second is from the aforementioned PUG I landed in with Lord_Sirian. In my defense, I entered the game mid way through wave three. I was using a TGI + Mattock X while Lord_Sirian had a GI using a Hurricane. The difference in score is quite humiliating.
n

So, trust me, I hear you when you say you're not a bad player. I'm fairly sure that if I'm capable of scoring 148,000 points I'm not horribad at the game. However, it would seem that in comparison to certain people, I may as well put a diaper skin on my Turians and throw pacifiers at the enemy. I find it quite frustrating.

Thanks, Lightswitch. Your experience was pretty much the same as mine: I do fine in a normal PUG, but Feneckus just outclassed me by such a ridiculous amount it left me flabbergasted. If that makes me bad in the eyes of some, then they simply have unreasonable standards.lightswitch wrote...

No e-peen stroking was intended with the OP, btw. I was simply expressing my confusion as to how anybody could be that good at a game. I thought I had this thing down, but my opinion has been revised. I knew I wasn't the best player by any stretch of the word (I played platinum with three people who were friends (I was the PUG intruder), they were clearly better than me but I held my own, ending third maybe 20-30k points behind no. 1), but I had no idea the skill gap was that big.
Something to aspire to, I suppose, but I doubt I'll ever get anywhere near these guys. Then again, when I started out I was pretty convinced that Silver difficulty would be forever out of my reach.

I'm going to rocket spam in a PUG, so I can say I"m on Feneckus's level.

If I score over 200k in a PUG, the objective waves were terrible, and it was a pretty long match. I've still yet to break the 250k mark in a PUG though. I'm pretty sure solos usually have less points than that.
