Brotip: When you plan to play a game with Broguard with full melee build, don't go inviting Jay.
Brotip2: "Should I ask a friend or do we go PUG". If you still wanna hit something go PUG.
Brotip3: When both of them have Tsols with Typhoon Xs, change the kit
Brotip4: When a PUG joins as a TSol with Typhoon V, just don't play any melee character. Just don't. You won't hit anything. I promise.
The times my Broguards fist hit a dead enemy.... Good game though, came in 3rd :D

this has no bearing on the skill of the guys in this post but I do agree that some point are mistaken by what skilled players are. Ive played with plenty of self proclaimed pros and found that what their skill was was that they knew spawn points and they were just faster to get to their. Even a few times I made it a point to disrupt the spawn points by standing in them and what I found is that of the self proclaimed good players couldnt handle the less ideal situations. If mobs spawned behind them they would freak out and run away.

What makes a good player good is that they can handle the situations that get out of hand. The guy who can dip in and rez 1 or 2 players and still get out without too much problems, whether its by clearing out the area with a missle or postioning themselves so they can rez with cover.

Believe me Im not trying to say that spawn farming is cheating, I personally use it to thin out waves to speed up the game but I dont think Im a skilled player for it nor consider anyone who does it as such until they can display the real skill.

I judge players by a few criteria to determine whether they are skilled or not. Rez medals, it may not be that he/she gets gold but you can tell who the good player is by if there are rez medals and who got them. Why because good players realize that the more people that are alive the better it is to accomplish the goal. Objective waves, I will be the first to admit that kill targets distorts this but you can definitely tell whos the good players are, they are the ones that are either at the objective or clearing to it at most if not all times. Sure you can rack up points by standing on the other side of the map while the team is doing the objective but is it because you are focused on the points or helping the team... if you really think you are helping what happens when you die. Either the team has to decide to let you bleed out or risk losing the objective.

the one thing I have noticed with the few good players Ive played with (descy was the most recent) is that they are first and foremost good team players. Sure they tend to not be with the group at all times but they keep themselves close enough to help out when the group is in trouble. That to me what makes a good player, not score.

This is my only issue with the idea of “elite” players; a
lot of people only seem to care about score, which, let’s face it, only tells
part of the story. If a good player plays a great loadout (good kit with
corresponding high level UR weapons), depending on the team, that player is
going to dominate the score, because he’s going to kill everything much quicker
than other players (biotics notwithstanding). I play PUG on Xbox, so I rarely
run into any of the “elite” players (and I don’t use “elite” to mean disrespect,
I just don’t have any experience with any of you all), but regardless, the
thing that to me makes a player great is his ability to play at an elite level
by himself but at once in a team. Basically, if you can help out with
objectives, and are willing to revive downed players (within reason), and try
to synergize with the team (you set up biotic/tech explosions or detonate them,
or if using weapons, you choose the target that makes the most sense, not the
one that’s easiest for you to shoot), then you’re halfway to being a great
player (the other half being skill).

This isn’t meant as a knock against anyone in this thread
(or on BSN in general), I’m simply saying that I think people should worry a
little more about how well their team is doing, instead of blind hero worship. There’s
nothing worse than a player with a high level Harrier that can mow down
everything in his path, but doesn’t pay attention to the 3 teammates surrounded
by Scions and Praetorians.

Feneckus and BiO_besTech are the best players I've played with. I used to play with Stentron way back around when the game first came out and the Legion Effect was new but it's been awhile, I can't remember if he was still awesome back then. But if Feneckus or BiO are in my game, they top score, every time.

Also, I rarely have seen Feneckus use shotguns, but people seem to say that's his signature kit. I remember him playing almost exclusively Turian Soldier and using the Harrier or some SMG a lot.

I play with someone like this on the PS3, ID TMB903. Always in the right spots for spawns, then you get the leftovers. I actually thought I was pretty good before playing with him :)

QFT

When I can come in a vaguely close second place to him, I know I've had a great game. LOL

K_O_513 (aka Rad Rage on the forum) is pretty freakin' good, too. He was taking away my second place spot in TMB's room the other night. Image IPB

When I saw TMB in the lobby with a Claymore X GI I figured he was good, but I didn't realize just how good he is lol. I felt like a complete waste of space next to him. Nothing but Claymore kill feed and killstreaks from him nuking spawns.

Yeah, he's honestly the best PS3 player I've ever played with. You are up there, though, and so was Syoku before Borderlands 2 devoured his soul, but TMB is just scary good.

The nice part is that I think he honestly gets embarrassed when people say that. He's here on the forums, but he never preens his feathers or makes a showboat of himself or look down his nose at all us "commoners". Ever. He's just really, really good and loves this game, and a fun dude to play with. Very knowledgable. Helpful, too. Answer any questions when asked and offers advice to newbie PUGs about their loadout (aka someone brought in a Falcon with an AP mod equipped, for example) in a nice, non-demanding, just-wanted-to-let-you-know kind of way, so nobody's feelings get hurt about it.

Which reminds me, when are you getting a mic? Image IPB

When playing with others who are at a higher skill level than yourself, it is best not to look at the scoreboard unless depression is your plan. :pinched::crying::(
That being said, I rarely am the one in that top spot so far beyond the others that they'd feel useless. Isn't that so, LazySundae.  (Maybe excluding that Salarian engineer match on White)

I have twice got 200-250k at pug Gold game - with Krogan Vanguard, Geth and Hydra -map. Rest of the team just did not move anywhere from starting point. 22min game.

But performing this feat against good players and with any character? I'm little sceptical... I know, I cant do it.

I play with friends because there's usually more laughter involved... but I play the majority of my games PUG, because that's how you get better at the game ha ha.

So having a 90% success rate on gold is terrible? I'm glad you've all decided you know how bad I am. Really makes me glad I posted this thread. For the record, that makes Feneckus the first non-terrible player I've seen in 1200 games. No wonder you people complain about pugs if a team that could've easily finished the mission even without Feneckus there still counts as terrible.

There are different ways of quantifying success. I go mostly by medals first, then score, then finishing. But if Feneckus is getting that score then something is wrong with the team.

I disagree.

When I used to PUG, I would run into the occasional group who were very decent, but I would still score 200k+. Why? Because while they weren't bad players, I would simply find and kill the spawns before they could. In PUG's, the ability to not die is underrated IMO. I'll only say someone is a bad player if they constantly go down AND don't contribute much on the scoreboard.

yes some players dont get high score because they play very defensively , dont die in the whole game , but they are not bad players
