Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is due out tomorrow. Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition is to follow and then (hopefully) Baldur's Gate 3.
BGEE can be purchased on BeamDog.

Yep 3 days off to be exact. And you can be sure I will be spending the majority of it with the game. And as someone whos beaten the game over a dozen times you can be sure I will be enjoying every second of it

Oh, man, I'm in the midst of editing a novel and the deadline is tight, otherwise I'd be doing the same thing. Crap!!!
I still play BG 2, have since 2000 every year or so, so when I heard that BG 1 was getting updated/enhanced with extra content from some of the original Bioware talent I was ecstatic to say the least. Soon as my editing is done I'm neck-deep in BGEE.

Since I can tell you appreciate the series just as much as I do, I can definitely say its one that is worth it to wait until you can sit down and have some time to really sink your teeth into it and enjoy it properly. I didn't see the email saying the game would be delayed until the day before it was originally meant to be released and I felt crushed since I was so excited to play it the next day... But overall I would rather have the complete experience rather then a rushed game so I think the wait is well worth it.

I can't play BG either 1 or 2 without becoming completely, utterly engrossed, so I'm going to wait until I have several days with nothing to do, hopefully next week. I'll be grinding my teeth in anticipation until then. LOL
It's just so awesome EE versions are coming out with new content and characters. It's going to be GREAT.

And the best part is it does not have to end at just the first game, I hope to God they do decide to continue on with the series. Between BG:EE, its potential sequels, and Project Eternity I am one very excited and happy gamer indeed.
GL resisting the urge to play it until your weekend, I would do the same thing and it would be painful to wait but totally worth it.

This an awesome time to be into RPGs and not the watered-down crap we've been hit with. I think certain AAA developers will be very surprised to see how well BGEE, Project Eternity, and Wasteland 2 do.
As for the BG series, I already anxiously await the EE version of SOA/TOB and read that if the EE versions do well, there will be a BG 3. I have no doubt that the EE games will outdo their expectations.
Thanks for the good luck. I'm going to need all that and the willpower I can muster not to cave.

Yeah I heard that Overhaul Games would eventually like to do a BG3 if the rest of the series goes well. I will purchase 10 copies of BG to make this happen if I must! (joking (though not really))
With the success of P:E on Kickstarter it does seem like there may be a realistic market for these kind of games, and it seems like theres more then a few people in the gaming industry that are passionate about working on those kind of games too, which is promising. Just think if we started getting proper overhauls of games like Deux Ex, Ultima, PS:T, NWN ect. Screw modern gaming (most of it anyways) Ill take nostalgia over powerhouse graphics any day of the week.

Looking forward to trying the BGEE, but $20 is too expensive IMO. I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale next year.

A lot of other people will, too, though it's not the graphics that are an issue, it's the AAA game companies themselves and failing to understand the RPG market. This is one reason why the Witcher series did so well. The games sort of hit a sweet spot as did DA:O, though not as well as they could have or as well as what the titles we've been discussing will.
Graphics are fine and dandy, but when you start streamlining or leaning towards too much action, you start ripping the soul of out what makes an RPG role-playing. I don't look at it as nostalgia personally. I see it more as a return to a better game development approach or the market finally correcting itself, whichever you prefer. If somewhere along the way some company includes state-of-the-art 3D graphics, great, but if not, really so what? Give me the role-playing aspect in a game with depth and immersion and I'm set.
It's going to bo SOOO hard not to fire up BGEE. This, it's going to be a tough, tough week (hopefully not two, please, God, do not let it be two).
