So after the update, is BGEE worth the extra $10(compared to the $9.99 GOG BG)?

It adds three new romancable characters, a few new areas, quests and magic items to the main game, and the entirely new Black Pits thingie. And the interface, etc has all been updated to my current resolutions. So yeah I'd definately prefer it to the GOG version. But I'd never buy the GoG version since I already have that version on the original discs.
The price difference isnt a factor at all to me.

So has anyone hit up the mods yet? It seems like theres already a few confirmed to be working/worked on including a Neera expansion. I may have to check them out.

For the adaptation to higher resolutions, BG2 rules with kits and new characters, I think so. For me it is.
If you don't care about any of that, no, then it's not worth it.
The Black Pits? Meh. It doesn't appeal to me.

Supposedly G3 is working on making their BG1 companion banter and unfinished buisness mods compatible with the Enhanced Edition. Waiting for that. And money.Isichar wrote...
