Kangaxx lol, that fight is either impossible or easy mode depending on whether you know what your doing.

Oh and BG is one of the best games to be an evil douchebag, although I typically play an overall good guy the initial playthrough.

Ah, yeah, especially if you have Edwin in your party. Viconia . . . mmm, I wonder whether she will look like the BG 2 version or keep the same crazy look from BG 1.

For Viconia I would prefer 2's style since thats mainly how I remember her. I favored using her much more in the second game then I did in the first usually.

Im going to make an assassin this time, it seems they havent changed the poison blade skill which screams im OP!

Or Totemic druid. transform to blade spider (i hate them in BG1...) at lower levels? Yes pls!

BTW all demi-lich have "Imprisonment at will" skill. Korgan ates them for breakfast with proper axes or Crom Fayer!

assassin eh? Nice choice. Speaking of which I hope BG2:EE fixes the serious shortage of designated rogues...

TDD had some great characters, a really good assassin, too.

Imoen was absolutely charming. I adored her in BG 1 and 2. "I've done had enough of this." and "'Tis something most unnatural here, and I want no part of it." She tickled me. Oh, and "My blade will cut you down to size." Yeah, I'm done for. No way I'm going to make it a week.

I agree on both counts. She was a superb NPC in BG 2, not as good in BG 1. Maybe that will be fixed in BGEE? Would be good if so.

Imoen is basically an always must take for me regardless of my character unless I choose to go completely solo for the hell of it. I am pretty sure she is the only character that will stick with you regardless of what you do or what your reputation is as long as you choose to keep her.

Mm she had some great banter with Sarevok in ToB, talk about one hell of a family reunion.

I always have Imoen in my party, too. I wouldn't have the heart to get rid of her and when Sarevok comes back? Oh, priceless. It's truly amazing how the BG games stick with you.

BG2 in general fleshed out the characters much better then 1 did so the characters feel slightly more shallow as a result. If BG:EE added more dialogue (I dont think they are allowed to unfortunately) they could probably push it up to BG2's characterization quality.

Oh man I have hundreds of distinct BG stories and memorys.

There was once I was wandering in the wilderness which was crawling with orcs, when a little boy came up to me and asked me to help him find his doggy, naturally I attacked him so I could loot him and next thing I know he kicks me once and my fully armored character just explodes into pieces. Long story short it turns out he was some kind of ogre mage and his 'doggy' was some kind of dire wolf.... Good times =]

Basilisks are pretty much like Kangaxx, if you got what you need to stand up to them they are easy, but if you run into one and dont know how to handle it or your just not prepared then GG.

And who can forget the Carnival, home to the amazing exploding ogre Oopah!

Not really fair to compare the enhanced edition to the old ones like that. It should definitely cost more.

It remains to be seen HOW enhanced it is, but it seems like it's worth the money to me.

Your choice though.

Here you go.

For those of you who would like some more information this is the thread my list is primarily based on and has a lot more information and detail and this is another thread which explains their limitations whilst creating the enhanced edition.

Engine:
  • Rewritten over half of the engine, fixing a number of issues and improving performance. This includes: rebuilding the threading model, and rebuilding the renderer and porting it to OpenGL (the graphics are now 100% hardware accelerated).
  • Fixed bugs that have been found over the years (by the devs, community, and modders). This not only includes the bugs that currently require mods to fix, but also the bugs that require access to the source code.
  • Making it multi-platform. PC, Mac, Ipad, Android. With a possible Linux version in the future.
  • Fixed the multiplayer and added matchmaking. The multiplayer also supports cross-platform play.
Visuals
  • Native support for high resolutions.
  • Shader-based upscaling of artwork. Art can be displayed at much higher resolutions than the original game.
  • A generously customisable / moddable high-res GUI
  • Ability to zoom in or out of the battlefield.
  • Replaced the old CG movies with high-res hand painted cinematics.
Audio
  • Audio engine has been ported to OpenAL (which brings back environmental audio support for newer OSs).
  • High-quality original soundtrack (16 bit, 44.1 Khz OGG Vorbis files encoded directly from the OST CD).
  • New content will have music by Sam Hulick (Mass Effect 3).

New Content
  • 1 new kit.
  • 3 new joinable NPCs.
  • 1 new adventure.
  • Several new items.
  • New portraits.
  • New voice sets for the player character.
  • With more to come in the future as (mostly) free DLC.

Looking forward to trying the BGEE, but $20 is too expensive IMO. I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale next year.

20$ too much for one of the most replayable games ever made? I refuse to listen to such blasphemy...

20 is too much for a remastering of a 14 year old game with an incredibly boring story and dated combat.

Baldur's Gate one and the expansion? Yes.
Baldur's Gate I and II? No, that is going to be enhanced.

Nice! Do you know the classes? I'm a newbie when it comes to old rpgs but I have got into the habit of playing them! I enjoy them. For baldur's gate I was planning to play a Gandalf type character so that is why I was asking

$20 is a little steep for a game I already own(older version). Doesn't seem to add a lot. I'll wait for a price drop to play the HD upgrade of BG.

I'm more interested in BG2 since it's a vastly superior game in almost every way to BG.

Basilisk in that map are easy :) Just get our friendly ghoul (or animate some deads) and let them tank. They always save vs.death  and meanwhile just kill them with missle combat :)

BTW $20 is not that much considering most of the shallow and short DLC stuff costs $10-20 nowadays...

Edit: Minsc&Boo what happened to you???

Considering all the new content they've added, the $20.00 price tag is still better than what you get with the same amount of money on DLCs for games that are inferior. They've imported the classes, kits, etc. from BG 2 which should help BG 1 as well. IMO, it's not really a game I already own and I will gladly fork over the $20 to not only play it but help insure there is a BG 2 Enhanced Edition (and a BG 3 as well).

BGEE contains the original Baldur's Gate along with its expansion pack Tales of the Sword Coast and a horde of new content along with some new characters. See http://www.baldursgate.com.

Bah. Some of us like these boring stories that are about the player character rather than saving the world/galaxy/universe/whatever.

A story about a bunch of god children killing each other in order to become a god is boring? Well it all comes down to perspective and opinion I suppose.

I like how it starts with you just been some weak adventurer running from assassins and dealing with kobolds and eventually turns you into a walking force of power within the world capable of dealing with entire armies of mythical creatures single handedly. Its one of the few game series I felt scaled its difficulty properly and constantly managed to raise the threat in a way that makes sense with the setting.

No doubt. After two or thee of the main quests in DA:O I was pretty much sleepwalking through the game in regards to battles. I took on Flemeth with just my Warden and Leliana. The final battle was fairly easy, too. That was on "Nightmare". Likewise, my biggest complaint with the Witcher 1 was how unbalanced it was towards the end and the Witcher 2 also disappointed me (to a lesser degree) in that vein.

Both BG 1 and 2 did well in keeping the game balanced.

$20 for this is a bargain I think. Hell, if there was a boxed version with a proper manual I'd pay $60+ without a second thought.

$20 is about £15 for me.
Overall, not bad for what I'm getting.
