I don't think anyone would have a problem with two disks instead of one if it is needed. So feel free to make DA3 2 disks if needed if it means more game content. Most people agree right

I've actually been wishing hard for this. I want Da3 to have more disc than Lost odyssey.

I would still be happy if the game was on 10 discs, let alone 2. Swapping discs is a pretty small price to pay in exchange for extra content.

Agreed. Some people apparently have a huge problem with two discs on a game, but if it means we get more content and more quality content, resulting in a huge, amazing game, I'm all for it.

Two discs aren't really a big deal anyway, for consoles.

How many disks did Lost Odyssey have?

Any way, they can make it as many disks they need to, if they just make a good game.

Ohh... that sounds good.
Too bad it is a male protagonist only as I remember it.

Unless DA3 has several hours worth of cut-scenes, that's not going to happen.

Someone better contact the devs to tell them to put it on multiple discs now that we've sorted that out.

You would think but some people complained about ME2 being two disks. They complained about ME3 being two disk as well. My strong opinion is if adds more content then definetly add more disks

It'll probably be two. No way is Bioware going to go for four.

People still use disks?

Seriously tho, I have no problem with games being split between multiple disks.
As long as I don't have to pay for each one.

I don't care how many disks the game has as long as the content is good. I would rather play a 40-hour game with great quests, engaging characters, and gorgeous levels than 100 hours of insipid repetition. Heck, I'd probably play the 40-hour game four times before finishing longer game.

How many disks should it take? Exactly as many as it needs. If that extra disk meant that ambient characters could be fully rendered, it's worth it. If that extra disk meant unique levels for every quest, it's worth it. If that extra disk meant greater quest complexity, it's worth it. If that extra disk was needed because they never got a chance to optimize the code, they should take the time to optimize the code.

This isn't innovation. I'm sure that people at BioWare are already doing everything they can to give us more bang for our bucks.

I remember when I first got my DVD PC drive. I thought '8 GB of space? I'll never see a two disk game again.'

What a difference five years makes.

Being old really helps one reflect on things huh? :P

Why would they be afraid of making it two disks? Have there been horrible two disk related murders lately? Have two disks games been known to harbor virus that make your computer come alive and kill you? Do two disks represent being and unbeing and how they can never really be one and therefore we can never really experience wholeness?

These are the questions that haunt me...

At the very least, do not remove content to make it fit on 1 disk. I think it's safe to say that no game these days fits on 1 disk. DA2 did but that was only because they just reused the same 5 areas over and over and the background textures probably didn't take up more than 10MB of disk space judging from the quality:pinched:

I think the answer is a bit more mundane than that. Console players probably cannot install games properly and have to load several things from the disk while playing, so when entering a new area that's on a seperate disk, they have to swap disks during play....

Printing multiple discs costs more money and I think there may be some sort of multi-disc fee that console manufacturers enforce.

Buzz kill. :P

And while I am tempted to go PC 'S FOREVER at this point I can see how this has the potential of being a deal breaker for console players. I know I would find it MASSIVELY annoying.

It is.  Mass Effect 2 isn't too bad, but Mass Effect 3 makes you switch back and forth between disks for side missions vs. main missions even if the game is installed on the hard drive.   :pinched:

That's what I'm here for.:bandit:

I guess having to swap disks is annoying. About on par with having half the actions in a game tied to the spacebar...

Both problems can be solved if the dev actually puts some work into the game though. Pc games can be made better by putting some work in the port at least (if not outright develop the game for pc first but that seems to be a no no for most developers these days). Some careful planning when designing and building your game can, of course, solve the disk swapping problem. Sadly removing content until it fits on one disk is usually less of a hassle and thus favorable to today's game developers:(.
