Nyreen's fate was completely and utterly unforgivable.

This galaxy belongs to blue tentacleheads and jiggly bumbums with masks.
The tumors on Nyreen's chest are gross too, which means she probably would die soon anyway.

to be fair, it would've been a bit cliche'd if she'd survived in her little bubble after setting off an explosion like that. you'd have people on here complaining about how hackneyed and unrealistic the scene was if she'd lived through it.
this is BSN... there can be no harmony or happiness. all must BURN!
to be fair, most peoples are not hoping she survive to bomb, they hoping she not blow herself up for nothing.
and I don't think you can say the same for shepard 'cause s/he survive the bigger boom in best destroy ending.

Dying because of the bombs inside the sphere makes sense. From what I heard, she generates a sphere that completely blocks gunfire but that means they have to be exterior. Nothing gets in or out; putting bombs in a contained biotic sphere would probably kill anybody, even an asari matriarch. The only problem I personally see with that is the grenades were looted from a guardian!LieutenantSarcasm wrote...

The problem, good sir, is railroading. It is completely unavoidable. And besides, those biotic barriers would not stop a shock wave of air according to the lore.

I agree.
When I saw her death I considered it to be worst and most pointless death in entire Mass Effect series.
It looked all to the bottom as a "forced" death and an excuse not to allow us to have her outside of the DLC as a squadmate.
And not the fact that's it's mechanically impossible for her to be a squadmate in the first place?

I really wish we could've kept Nyreen as a permanent squadmate as I really liked her. Would've loved to see Garrus' reaction to a fem Turian being on board, would've been fun to see some drama churn up with Tali and Nyreen.

Anyone remember Javik? Or rather the so-called "controversy" (which really turned out to be nothing?) Bioware devs said, that you couldn't (or rather that it was ridiculously and prohibitively difficult to) add characters to a squad-roster AFTER the fact.
This is why Javik exists in the game files even if you don't own his DLC.
This is why Kasumi had a place-holder model and VA lines in ME2
When ME3 was datamined, was there any data, any at all, for Nyreen? No?
Then she can't be a permanent squadmate. Sorry.

Ah yes, because patches are well and truly impossible. This can be patched into the game with some effort, and from the engine's perspective, there is little difference from a temporary to a permament squaddie.

Yes, typical writers making us love something only to snatch it away and burn it.
Edit: But you're right, their writing skills are hanging by a thread at the moment.
Well if they made you love her character that much. Then obviously their writing skills aren't hanging on by a thread.

Nyreen represented an order, one that actually spoke and cared for the people of Omega, that was challenging Aria's ruthlessness and depravity. She was also Aria's main squeeze at one point. For her to die, it signifies a paradox for Aria: to continue in her ways of control, or to honor her friend's death?
I agree. This would require too much thought. And why write dialogue for a character and have them in a place when you can kill them off? It saves them the trouble of remembering to kill them off by twitter or e-mail later.
Problem with this train of though is that Bioware clearly did intend this. Between a Paragon Shep and Nyreen Aria's clearly a changed woman at the end of Omega. The fact that she let Petrovsky live and allowed Cerberus to leave Omega speaks volumes of how much Nyreen's death has changed her. The old Aria would have splattered his head ala Samara then told Omega to execute every Cerberus soldier they could find. But she didn't.

My biggest complaint about this is that they didn't find a way to make it look like Nyreen was dead but didn't really die. If she somehow came back at the end via a non-combat side-mission, that would bode better for people. If you had a choice between Aria and Nyreen, that would have been even better.
Bioware, you had a chance to make a good story portion and you f***** up royally. Omega was enjoyable, and I grew to like Nyreen at the end, but you killed her off way too soon. It was nice to have an explosive death, but it was like a "WTF man!" moment as opposed to a "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" moment.

No. It was already common knowledge both Aria and Nyreen were only temp squadmates. The devs talked about that in some interview.DeadpoolBub wrote...
