incinerate -> energy drain = fire explosion, right? you just have to wait till they catch fire?
energy drain -> incinerate = nothing?
shoot with incendiary -> energy drain = small fire explosion?

Correct, with the proviso that ED only detonates on synthetics or shielded enemies. Indeed, it doesn't prime. I was trying to remember to set enemies on fire while they still had shields so I would get the explosion.

Actually, as far as I know, ED does prime for a tech burst. At least on synthetics, probably on shielded organics as well.

Hmm, really? I thought it only detonated. Must test. To be fair, I haven't played my SI, SE or my Paladin in ages.

Well, at least this topic says it does: http://social.biowar.../index/9629730.
Tech bursts are the least-appearing explosions, I can never tell if they did get off or not...

I unlocked the SE really early and played it for a loooooong time, really liked the kit. Then as I unlocked other stuff I put it away and havent used much. I was using it kinda recently (maybe a week or two ago) and totally sucked with it. I think it's because I kept spamming ED (lower cooldown) and occasionally tossing in incinerate hoping for explosions, but never got any. I think I did a few times, but not on purpose and looks like it's because they needed to be on fire first and possibly shielded.
That link provided seems to say that ED *can* prime a tech burst that *can* be detonated by incincerate. Which is what I thought I used to do. Hmmmm. Maybe I need to play more with SE and test this out....

Do you know what kits you plan to use tonight, Mad Godji?

I'm pretty sure that ED does prime synthetics, I do remember against Geth primes forcing myself to alternat ED/Incinerate to get tech detonations (before fire explosions could be detonated anytime and required killing blow.
Edit: Yes, ED does actually prime any shielded/barriered target (and any geth) for a Tech Burst.

It was nigh impossible to get a 'splosion on the basic troopers. I tried ED/Incinerate and vice versa on isolated mooks. Although I did get a few, not sure why, but that was in later rounds an by accident, so I'm not sure how/why they'd explode.
I got a fair number of 'splosions on centurians, but wasn't 100%. They had to be on fire first and then ED. When it worked i usually ED to drop shields, incinerate, and then if they hadn't died yet ED again for boom. What I started doing later was shoot to get shields down to less than 1/2 or gone, incinerate, then ED. So I do think the enemy has to be shielded.
Could not get a boom on phantoms (barriers instead of shields?), nemesis and engineers I could not reliably get a boom. Got a few booms on Dragoons... (might be related to my atlas theory).
Atlases were the easiest and most consistent to get booms on. Their shields had to be down it seemed. If i went Incinerate/ED I'd get a boom maybe 50% of the time. But incinerate/incinerate/ED was a guarunteed boom. I'd get 2 or 3 explosions b4 the atlas would fall.

First game was Turian Havoc soldier against collectors on Giant. That went quite well (despite me setting it up poorly, somehow managed to put very wrong equipment...) but with 4 havoc restocking on stim packs was a bit tough at times, the downside to playing 4 classes who use grenades.
Second game was Asari Huntress (And LoonySpectre, you went offline just as we were going for this, you asked it for so long, I WILL do another one with you too!!) They tore through repaers pretty easily, there is something to be said for having 4 dark channels jumping around in a pack of enemies.
We continued with Geth Infiltrators against Cerberus on Giant. The game went well, but I am a really poor sniper
Last game was Phoenix Vanguards against Collectors on Firebase Reactor. Quite intense, but this actually worked quite well too, I rediscovered the class, I hadn't played it in ages but had a lot of fun. Still, glad we had some missiles for wave 10, as upload in the reactor could have been ugly otherwise.

I did record the Phoenix vanguard run though, so there will be a log at how hard I failed to use him lol. I love the adept, the vanguard I just don't ever use though and it really showed XD

I play the adept all the time but the vanguard has never been a favorite of mine. Vanguards in general I just don't play very often since I tend to play off host. Around wave 6 I just gave up and started charging everything, I died a lot but it was fun. . . I guess?

First run was human sentinel, against Cerberus on Hydra. We struggled more than I'd have expected, especially one wave where engineers go crazy and we managed to get completely surrounded by turrets. Phantoms and their shield plus didge were a bit annoying too, basically, just about no way to hit one with a power, so annoying :/
Second run was Turian Infiltrator against Collectors on Goddess. Well, as expected, this one was pretty easy , the firepower of these guys is a bit on the crazy side too.
We rounded up the evening with some Batarian adepts on Vancouver against Reapers. This guy is fun, but I need to remember that this guy doesn't have tech armor and can't take the same level of punishment
Thanks again to everyone for the games!
