About the time the Omega DLC was announced, the mass effect wiki claimed it would provide the Collector Assault Rifle for the singleplayer campaign.

And I was quite interested to read this news, because it's my favorite assault rifle.

But just now, the info has been changed and the reference to the Collector AR has been removed!

I asked a friend who completed the playthrough and they said they did not see it.

Can anyone confirm if the Collector AR is still in the DLC?

I might add, I won't be happy if I don't get it!
I don't think there's a rating scale high enough to measure the level of my disappointment!

And since I don't play multiplayer anymore, that would mean I never get to use my favorite AR!

I didn't find it, and hasn't appeared in a store for my Shep to buy. So don't think so.

I'm sure it'll be in the next weapon pack along with the rest of the Collector weapons. Hope you've got your 2 bucks ready.

I'm confused too, because in the trailer, it shows up on shepard's back in one of the scenes.
took it out so the DLC would fit in the 2 gig file limit for XBOX.

Suspicious Me wonders if it and the "appearance pack" were supposed to be included in the Omega DLC, but got cut because of size limitation, and since they couldn't give more content to other systems that XBOX would miss on, EA figured they could use this as an opportunity to milk more money from us. Cause really, the cost of Omega vs what we got is kinda unbalanced. but if it had come with the appearance pack and the Collector AR, it would've balanced out better.

But hey, that's just suspicious me talkin.

I found the Valkyrie, but that was the only weapon that I came across. I guess I could have missed it somewhere.

edit: apparently the other weapon is the Chakram launcher, but I already had that one.

wouldn't you still get the Chakram, unless you had already upgraded it to V/X?

Hmm, good question.  I don't think so.

The upgrade system works like this, to my understanding:

If you already possess the weapon at less then Mk X, the game gives it to you and upgrades it automatically 5 levels.

So if you already have the Chakram Launcher at MkV, you'll be given a MkX one free of charge.

If it's MkX already, it won't be there at all.

I did find some evidence of the Collector AR in ME3 soloplayer, from the demo video
i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu100/zrowngctr/Mass%20Effect/Details/ME3CollectorAR01.jpg
i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu100/zrowngctr/Mass%20Effect/Details/ME3CollectorAR03.jpg
This happens shortly after meeting Nyreen, at the nearby weapons loading bench.

And I searched every room throughly up to this point, so if the Collector AR was ever part of the DLC, it's not there anymore!

I strongly suspect this is part of another DLC, probably a single player weapons DLC.
I've seen a Collector SMG in the multiplayer weapons list, so they're probably going to release a Collector themed weapons pack, which includes this weapon and the Collector AR.

Anyway, since I'm not getting my dream assault rifle, I've given up playing the Omega DLC until I do.
After all, I'm not sure if this is the last DLC and if I get my Collector AR, I'm going to need bad guys to shoot with it!

I thought if you had a weapon at Mk V the received upgrade when finding it again was only up to Mk VIII?

I'd prefer they release the Collector Weapons as a DLC along with a SP mission involving them. It would be a very interesting way of involving Javik the Prothean in another mission and fill in some more of his back story or expand the story of what happened to the Protheans who were 'Collected'.

It's somewhere in the game files, I have it unlocked thanks to the Gibbed's save editor. I guess the gameplay just used a similarily modified game.

It works like that if you are in NG+.

The only one off the top of my head I remember getting twice in any regular game is if you saved David in Overlord and get into the security office on Grissom.  You get either a second Mattock or Eviscerator.

If someone that has the Raider or Argus but bought Leviathan would weigh in, I would like to hear it.

I could test this via gibbed, but am not too interested in doing so :)

I dont know everything about Xbox/microsoft DLC limitations and what not, however I just today downloaded a 2.83gb file for Battlefield 3 (on top of like 2 other 1.5 GB files - took forever), so I'd be surprised if the real reason they "cut" anything was because of some sort of file size limitations. While I've also heard of the infamous microsoft "equal content for our console" line, I again doubt that this alone is what would've been the reason for cutting these things from the DLC.

Mass Effect 2 had several "appearance packs" so it seems quite logical for them to not include them with DLC (as Mass Effect 2 NEVER included any with its story DLC either).

The only thing I'd say is that given the amount of free multiplayer DLC and free extended cut, they perhaps felt they needed to make as much money off this DLC as possible, and given that Mass Effect DLC typically goes on sale on XBL for 1/2 off, they'll make more money at 1/2 off of 1200msp vs 800msp (+200msp=$2.50 more).

Of course Bioware might have legitimately put more time and effort into Omega than any previous DLC, and thereby felt it justified the price hike. I havent played it yet myself, so I dont know if its "worth it" but most people seem to hardly ever think ANY DLC is "worth it" these days.

I played Omega again today, and Chakram launcher was not where it was reported to be from others, so you don't get it if you have it unlocked at all. This is what I suspected. I still was able to pick up the Valkyrie though, as I did not have that one already.

I already had both the Valkyrie and Chakram Launcher (although not at X), and managed to collect both. I also picked up a Phaeston, as don't have that maxed out either.

In terms of the Collector Assault Rifle, it would very much appear that it's not included. :crying:

Was this a new character or import, or New Game +?

Very good points made

Curious though, was the 2.83 size file the game, or an add on? The limitation I heard about may be on add ons. But if what you downloaded was an add on, then, I have no idea, lol.

The collector assault rifle may have been pulled so they can stick it in a rumored "Collectors" DLC
which would be about the collectors (duh, lol). That would, honestly, be fine with me, as it would make sense, especialy if they add the SMG and Sniper from MP. It'd be nice to have something with them, and then bring along Javik, just to hear his opinion.

It was mentioned by bioware (I cant recall where) that the Collector AR was not actually included in Omega but was part of a previous save game they decided to use in the demos.

Umm... the Collector AR is on the disk. In fact you can mod it into your game without any DLC or anything.

So how did the Collector AR get into the game then?

I suspect there is something we're not seeing.

Probably a Collector Weapons pack, given that there's a couple of other weapons like that in multiplayer.

I'm holding out for that before I start playing Omega, Adjutants need some killing with a Collector arsenal!

As for modding, I'm not doing that in ME3.

It's got to be official release or not at all.

It has always been in the game.  So has the Prothean Particle Rifle, all the N7 weapons, the Argus, the Raider, Indra and the Chakram Launcher.  They are just locked if you don't have a code.  You can award themselves to you with a simple save edit.  You don't have to modify the game whatsoever.

This.

Though as you stated til, since you wont be editing, you wont be able to get the collector AR as of now. The collector Rifle has never been available to SP through codes or DLC, just save edits.

Well, that's annoying.

I call this Gearbox misrepresentation, after an incident with the fans in Borderlands 2.

Quick Recap:
There was a high number of Borderlands players who wanted 3rd person playability (much like Mass Effect or Fallout 3/New Vegas).
They constantly asked after it and got no official response at all, basically they were ignored.
Then one of these fans makes a pertinent observation: why are the official promotional videos filled with 3rd person action if the game does not actually have it?
They got rather irate after that, realizing the promotional videos were showing something that did not exist in game!

And that applies here.
In the video in question, they quite clearly show you a weapon that is not available!
And because I've been wanting it since I started playing Mass Effect, it feels like a slap in the face.
Like: we have the gun you want the most and we can play with it, but we're not letting you have it!

I can only hope they do release it in DLC form at some point, so this misrepresentation becomes truth.

It was available on their demo which used dev accounts which have access to everything and never was actually announced as an official thing which is how you need to look at these things. If a company doesnt officially announce something as a feature than dont expect it just because you see it.

Then they should have said something like that, to avoid confusion:
"We are using a Dev command to enable a weapon that nobody else can have".

But because nobody actually stated that fact, an assumption was made that the Collector AR was available in the DLC.

Mind you, for me personally, this has caused a negative backlash.

I've been waiting for that gun for ages and now that they've shown it can be ingame, but isn't, I'm refusing to play Omega until I get it!
I've used that Prothean Rifle long enough, it's about time I go back to my preferred AR.
It's too easy, it melts enemies and doesn't need to conserve ammo.

I'm undecided if I'll play other DLCs either, most likely, I will not.

Well, until the Collector Weapons pack comes out.
