 So it's

a) overloading of vendors, with stone keeper DLC installed (someone must test with stone keeper as I can not)
B) stone keeper dlc itself

I do not think its overloading of vendors with out stone keeper dlc installed, as I just dumped close to 200+ items on the camp merchant, by dumping 90 items, went to go buy 90 more items, unequipped all of my armor, sold.

So Brohdan had 200+ items on him, saved, came back, no corruption.

Tried it on Gorim in Denerim as well, saved, no corruption.

I even left the areas, came back, and they still had the items.

All this with out the stone keeper DLC installed.

I highly suggest uninstalled stone keeper dlc, and play the game start to finish with out it.

This is what I did, and didn't get any corrupted files whatso ever.

I've even checked most of the xbox gamer tags of people who got corrupt saves, and those who didn't. Every single person who had a corrupt save, played with the stone keeper dlc installed. I didn't see one person with a corrupt save that hadn't done the stone keeper dlc.

This is just a theory, and not at all conclusive as with most experiments, as I would have to find some people who did get corrupt saves with out stone keeper dlc installed, which I have yet to find.

If anyone can prove / tell me that they got a save corruption without stonekeeper dlc, please tell us, and also state if you sold off DLC items from wardens keep.

I highly think the stone keeper DLC is causing problems with overloading vendors, I'd perform the same test with the stone keeper dlc, but I don't want the save corrupted, but with out stone keeper, overloading the vendor with a ridiculus amount of items (close to 200+), I had no problems with save files.

And it seems everyone who does, always has stone keeper dlc.

Just overloaded the camp merchant with items again, 300 or so, went to denerim to buy more, go back to camp, rinse and repeat.. no corrupt saves.

Downloaded stone keeper DLC, did the same exact thing, except now I also had crystals to sell that I bought from gorim and merchants.

No corrupt save.

I think the damaged saves must come from selling alot of items to the vendor, but indoing so, there must be a specific item when sold with a huge lot, causes the problem. As research has shown that people were able to recreate damaged save bug by overloading certain vendors, but I just attempted that myself, and had no corrupt saves, with and with out stonekeeper dlc, (wardens keep dlc is installed on both attempts),

This makes me want to believe theres a specific item causing the problem when you vendor it with a whole lot, or just itself.

I encountered the bug and I don't have any DLC. When searching for resolutions I found a post stating it is the components for traps and bombs that is the issue. I just know that my last good save gets corrupt if I sell everything to Bodahn but is OK when selling to others.

I got in the habit of selling everything to Bodahn because I thought I would get more coin while wearing the Dwarven Merchant Belt. Turns out this belt is only good for looting and some have stated that it actually does nothing based on the PC construction kit. I have the 360 version so no way to confirm that.

Thank you, just the kinda post we needed! This allows us to know that theres a possibility that it's not just the stone keeper dlc.

Think for everyones safety, never sell to Bodahn.

I had a hard drive crash but I had my save games backed up. When I installed a new drive, reinstalled dragon age and copied back my save games, every one of them (quick save, 5 auto saves and a couple others) were all corrupt. I didn't use any cheats, glitches knowingly. I believe I have all the DLC that's been offered to date.

I don't think it relates to the merchants. We've only lost one save in my house and that was after the Redcliffe Tavern glitch was used (I've used it to check and seen no ill effects) but so early in the game no merchants were swarmed because there just weren't enough items to unload to do so.

BTW, I do have all the DLC installed.

I agree with LordReinhart.Did some experiments of my own and the conclusion is prety much the same .At that time I was so excited and wrote a huge thread here on this forums, but it must have been the lenght that kept people away from reading it.Hell , maybe I wrote a bunch of BS , corect me if I'm wrong.Anyway , here's the link

Until the patch or a new DLC is released , I'm done playing this game.Good luck guys.

I actually read your post and you seem to point trhe finger at Sten's quest, and particularly the interactions in Redcliffe as the source but that quest has a 100% completion rate in my house (7 games) and the only time the save corrupted was long before that quest was taken on.

In my case I have 8 saved corrupted!!! included the autosave from the camp just after give Sten his sword to the middle of the Fade (Broken Circle).

@minduzu I have done the Sten's quest right away (Lake / Orzammar / Redcliff) and it's true that it's right after it when the corrupt occurs but also it's the third time I've done the quest and never before I have the problem so It can not be the trigger.

I don't know which is the problem but I have lost many many hours.... I guess there are no way to recover, right?

I have made some checks after loosing three more hours of game...

If you have the bug of the tavern on RedCliff active (used or not) and come back to Redcliff and enter in any house (not only the one for the Sten's mission) all the saves will be corrupted.

So my conclusion is that you can not send the own of the tavern to the fight in order to not let Bella get it and force the bug.

If someone has the same problem of the corrupted saves wihout this bug please report.

The corruption doesn't have anything to do with Sten I don't think. I did his quest hours back and didn't get screwed until hour 23. I would be more prone to believe this has something to do with SP because I didn't do that quest until last night, I load up tonight, crash, crash, crash. All my saves on one character that were saved after I did that quest, are now corrupted.

I opened the tavern, played through, beat the game, did stone keeper dlc, everything no corrupt save with having bella run the tavern. I even used to her to get crystals to use on Shale himself.

Same here BUT I don't think I entered any of the other houses from that point on so if the problem is Bella is Tavern Owner = True AND you enter any homes in Denerim then I might not have tested that condition.

SOME SPOILERS!

Last night (grrr), I loaded a game save where I was at the point in the game where you are in Denerim after using all the Grey Warden treaties.

I stepped over to the Gnawed Nobel Tavern to take care of a couple of things, saved my game (different slot) tried something, decided not to proceed at that time and tried to reload the save I had just made. Corrupted. Tried to load the Denerim save I had loaded not five minutes earlier. Corrupted. Tried to load the last autosave. Corrupted. I went back four saves, lost five hours of gameplay (bulk of Orzammar & golem's personal quest plus a couple of miscellaneous merchant transactions). I suppose I should be thankful that not all the saves were gone. I conclude that it is a possibility given that half of mine blew up in this one instance.

I have all the downloadable content for the 360 and have already played the game through twice.

I have had the corrupted file issue once before but cannot recall the circumstances surrounding it (grrr).

Have corrupt save in Denerim, no DLC in use. I actually took Sten's quest, visited Redcliffe, but didn't go to the docks. Right after that i got the corrupt save in Denerim. Bella is running the bar, and I took everything from the stash long ago, but never knew of any 'cheat' you speak of.

The cheat is only if you have the prisioner DLC. Haven't this DLC installed? If not I give up... This cheat was my only clue...

So it has nothing to do with the cheat or DLC? I HAD stone prisoner on previous play through, but I removed them all for the 2nd go.

Fixed! I put all video options as down as possible. That alone didn't help. But then, while loading the save that previously didn't work, I went to desktop to wait for it, and it didn't crash. I completed Sten's quest and have now several saves outside Denerim. Still, I'm wondering when this will happen again. When I go back to Denerim?

Actually I've had some graphical bugs on high options, nothing big, but something seems amiss. Maybe it was nothing but a graphics bug that for some reason didn't like Denerim's textrures.
