Realistically, I think I might, since it'd be the most simple solution unless it made all current mages tranquil or something.

Simple? You'd have to somehow round up every mage to turn them tranquil, and hope to God that they dont try to resist. Its not gonna happen.

Also "realistically" Mages would have already taken over the world.. Again.

I said I'd only consider it if it didn't make every mage tranquil, so severing someone from the Fade would not be considered a valid solution.

I don't consider it equatable to losing a sense other than possibly a sixth sense, which as far as I know most of us don't have and we get along fine. We also don't have the ability to cast fireballs and manage to secure employment. They'd simply be like the mundanes.

Existence may be much more boring, sure, but also much less horrifying.

I dunno. If one day I was able to heal my wounds whenever I wanted, and could toss fireballs out of my head, and had the ability to transform into a bird, and fly around. If I was a mage I  would be depressed as **** if I had to be a mundane. Actually I wouldn't be depressed, I'd be pissed.

Also this sort of thing happened in Marvels X-Men. Somehow someone managed to "cure" the mutant gene, and almost every mutant lost their powers. Few of them were happy. But most were miserable, and good amount(Like Quicksilver) were suicidal. But the thing is it didn't last.

Some of them got new powers, and some new mutants were still being born.

Imagine if you went your entire life having awesome powers, then someone takes them away from you so had to be weak, and frail like the rest. Bandits who you never really had to fear before, now you have to cower before them so they don't gut you.

You and/or a loved one gets seriously injured. Before you could simply heal yourself, and them. Now you have to hope you have enough money to pay a doctor. You don't get it. It would be horrible for them if they lost their powers.
