Just finished the full paragon tour on the Omega and guess what?; Nyreen still makes her suicidal stunt!!!!
I did all the optional quests (Omega war asset for the Afterlife assault???), I picked paragon choice in every possible turn, I defended Nyreen (from Aria) in every possible situation and I saved all those civilians by rerouting the power from the generator.... and all that didn't matter at the end...
Now that I've tried everything, I can rest in peace with the Omega and perhaps with Bioware and Mass Effect because I'm sick and tired of this goddamn superb writing skillzz which leave only disappointment and sour taste in my mouth.
At least the civilians (outside of the Aftelife) recognized Nyreen and that she had saved them.
Aria or Nyreen choice : a missed opportunity? [spolier, of course]

Missed opportunities in Mass Effect 3? You must be joking.

I was actually expecting to have to make a choice between Aria and Nyreen as the ruler of Omega before the DLC came out. Then Nyreen died, and my hopes got dashed. I think it was definitely a missed role playing opportunity.

since they claim that the series wont go past me3 sequel wise im surprised that things tended to be so linear with the story. you think that they would go all out to make things so different for everyone.

As long as you are throwing out possibilities, you could practically make a case for a "defecting" Petrovsky to run Omega. Oddly he is probably not any worse than Aria.
But ignoring that for a moment, Aria is the main character that gets development through the DLC. Shepard's choices guide this development, sort of like how you can nudge Garrus in either direction in ME1. In any event, I suppose you can argue that Nyreen's sacrifice is the final thing that pushes Aria into either the more merciful or even compassionate character in the paragon ending, or the more merciless, revenge seeking character in the renegade ending.
Of course, I suppose you could rewrite it somehow such that Nyreen lives, but you could rewrite many things if you were going to do that.
