My Hawke didn't believe in that Chantry drivel anyway. Found the templars oppressive. She was a liar, cheat and a s*** like every other character I play in this type of game. Anders got a "good job, now let's get the hell out of here."

My Warden was bff with Morrigan, made Loghain a warden and had Loghain do the ritual.

I'm just a poor dirt farmer from south Fereldan. I don't want none of them mages around these parts. I've heard of nasty business in that Kirkwall place. My uncle Alphonse said he saw a mage turn into a demon once he did. No siree, keep em all locked up just like before. We don't need none of that kind of trouble round here.

I heard once that a village out west was hiding some of them mages that escaped. The Templars came on in and there was a fierce battle there was. Whole village burned down, Them Templars was only doin their jobs. Nope, I hope to never see one of them mages they bring nuthin but trouble.

Personally, I don't see why people do unless they just think it's fun or your a templar-supporter . He didn't deserve to die. That change needed to happen, mages were being oppressed and mistreated by the chantry for hundreds of years.

He needed to die. He was a giagantic ****ous Rex and mages are a bunch of whining, sniveling, entilted wankers who throw a fit every time they can't go to disneyland.

Locking up mages is the right thing to do.
And every mages that rebels deserves an executioners axe.

Neither. There's more to Thedas than those two groups, and much more interesting.

Just trying to see where we stand. Mages or Templars?
(As i lack the ability, anyone that could work up a poll for this would be appreciated lol)

Personally, Im mages all the way!

I for one don't project my personal beliefs onto games, and choose whichever one I find more fun. That said, I don't like chaotic stupid characters, aka most "evil" paths in games, and generally prefer being the saintly lawful good character over that. In the rare cases where you can be lawful evil though...

Well, let's just say this is what my character will sound like.

Feel the maker's wrath heretic! *beheads a random dude for taking the Maker's name in vain.*

BURN IN HOLY FIRE! *burns the entire population of a village at the stake for harboring an apostate.

NO MERCY, NO RESPITE! *summarily executing people for heresy*

Technically templars, I suppose. I would prefer to choose a non-religious sect to control mages, but I do see the control of mages as being completely necessary in any realistic world. After that, I would like to see the eventual reintegration into regular culture for well-behaved, Circle-raised mages. Essentially enforced boarding school, if one would.

If not for the existence of demons and possession, I actually wouldn't agree with the control of them to begin with (although tutoring would have to be a given). I don't see many people going on killing rampages, despite access to lethal weapons on any given day. If they did, the law enforcement for mages would have to take over.

Hm...wouldn't a modern DA be kind of neat? Magic Police and secretly possessed politicians...it's really too bad we don't have any video games where a fairly accurate take on our modern world is portrayed as being magical, as well.

Neither side. The conflict regarding Mages is being fought on the wrong side of the Veil, if you ask me. Some kind of order could and should be established by mankind in the Fade and by the Mages themselves. In other-words, the Mages should be doing to Spirits what Templars do to them...watching them; in the Fade, all the time.

I would imagine it would take a tremendous sacrifice for an individual to essentially 'live' in the Fade and that it would reduce the Templar role to essentially that of an orderly, keeping the Mages bodies alive on this side of the Veil, but if a cohesive, stable, and effective structure of order with the purpose of stopping abominations before they are born could be established in the Fade itself by mankind, then the Mage/ Templar conflict would become moot.

Neither of them because both sides are extremely idiotic.

Assuming our plot is even about choosing one side or the other...
I'll choose both on different playthroughs and probably enjoy both equally. :D

I can relate to both sides of the argument. And, not being personally biased against religious people in real life or in video games, I'm able to put myself in the Chantry's shoes and just enjoy myself. Call the mages underdogs if you will, but on the BSN they seem to be greatly favored, and that makes me maybe even a little more excited to support the Chantry, since to me they feel like the new underdog. *shrugs*

Both sides will be right and both sides will be wrong. Best to remember that it's entertainment and not life-or-death decision-making.

He's an abomination and his death can guarantee the support of a city-state. What's more beneficial to the Mage cause? One Mage who might confuse friend with foe in a fit of anger or a prince of Starkhaven, who has clout with the Chantry, and upon retaking his homeland can provide soldiers to the Mages' war efforts?
