Both sides have flaws.
I will most probably side with mages on first play through.
Then I will go the templar route on next play through. Good to get different perspectives.

Honestly, the words and attitude of the pro-mage folks (in the game and on the forum) are pushing me towards pro-Tempalr. I've always been more middle ground, but those folks are pushing me, I'm getting more positive receptions from the pro-Templar people (both in the games and on the forum). It's as if because I don't hate all Templar and I think that they have a few good points I must hate mages to the pro-mage people. I get attacked anyway, despite the fact that I was of a slightly more pro-mage lean before.

Example...
Pro-Mage----------/---------------------Pro-Templar (Before)
Pro-Mage-----------------/--------------Pro-Templar (Now)

I still believe that the Templar are doing a lot wrong but I'm more convinced that both in the DA world and here on the forums they are the more rational folks because, according the pro-mage folks (both in the DA world and here on the forums), if you ain't pro-mage you are pro-Templar. And since they have decided to take that stance I am being forced into the pro-Templar camp, crazy to think.

I hope the game doesn't ask us this question, at least not as a binary "mages or templars" dilemma. There are a lot of pretty distinct positions to take between the extremes of exterminating all the mages, and creating another Tevinter Imperium.

I, of course, choose the side, which epitomizes justice, righteousness, and innocence. Therefore, mages are the only choice that I can authentically choose.

Have to go with mages, since only the Tevinter have success holding off the incursion from the Qunari, If the templars had their way a whole lot of tranquil would be laboring to enchant swords for the templars to bring to the gun fight with the Qunari (and we all know how that would turn out). So if your idea of order is forced conversion to the Qun, be pro-templar/pro-luddite. Have fun being Bas! Not to mention a lack of mage stock due to their forced tranquility, there will be no Warden mages around to aid in stopping the next blight.

Mages, but I also think that the templar skillset is necessary. My stance has always been that the templars should not be the military arm of the Chantry.
