They did this in DA2, for the most part, but not in Origins. And I want to know how everyone else feels about the idea?

Edit: I am now aware that these threads get locked often, so please, if you're going to state your opinion, be civil about it. If someone says something rude, ignore them. Tell a moderator. Do not start arguments, and remember that everyone has the right to voice their opinion.

These topics pop up daily and get locked daily. I would just sift through the older posts if you want to hear the arguments from both sides.

I believe that's the general idea, and I'm fine with it. This subject evokes strong reactions, and has been the subject of many locked threads, so be prepared...

I don't think this thread is going to go anywhere pleasant. That said, I'm all for it. If DA3 does as DAO and gives gay players fewer options than straight players, I'll be disappointed.

I would imagine so, but I usually stay in the ME3 forums, so I wasn't aware. All I saw was that this wasn't a topic on the first page, and I wanted to know if people liked or disliked making all LIs available to both genders. So we'll see ^_^

Fine by me generally, but damn the most awkward part of the games is when you hit that fork in conversations with the males. I like how they made it as honestly subtle and streamlined as possible with Cortez in ME3, but I don't think they'll ever make it subtle enough for me.

I personally don't have a problem with it. So yeah, they can it if they want.

I think Cortez was pretty good, actually.

And Kaidan even better. I had heard that you could romance him but I didn't encounter it in my game at all--I had to be told how it happens.

All in all, I'm in favor of less squadmember-hitting-on-you in general.

I'm all for it with one rule.  The romance path has to be initiated by the player.  Unless its a character like Izzy, where it is part of their character that they go for anything that moves, the LI should not make any passes at the PC.  Apart from one line from Anders DA2 was very good about this as well.  I'd like to see it again.

Options are awesome.

No I don't think they should implement this. There should be some characters that are plain not attracted to you. Not every member of your party should be a romance option. I'm an adventurer not a pimp.

I prefer fixed sexual orientations like they had in DA:O (Alistair and Morrigan are straight, Leliana and Zevran are bisexual). "Herosexual" LIs strike me as silly and rather unrealistic. BioWare's going with DA2's romance set-up. It doesn't mean we shouldn't debate, but let's not get our hopes up about changing their minds on this as far as Inquisition is concerned.

Like Aveline and Varric, you mean? Not every character was (potentially) attracted to Hawke in DA2, even with four bisexual love interests.

In my opinion they should ask you at character creation whether or not you're character is bisexual, straight or plain out gay. This allows everyone to play the game they wish to play it, without random stuff popping up whenever they accidentally pick the wrong decision out of kindness.

I'm gay myself, but I find it perfectly reasonable for people to prefer to not deal with these kinds of things.

Also, instead of making LI bisexual, why not focus on them being of a single sexuality? Makes it a lot easier for people to know what they're getting themselves into. Perhaps Bioware should also consider adding gay/bisexual NPC's that aren't LI's. This reflects reality, without pushing it unto people.

I got no issue with it, it leaves it up to the player to decide and more options. I like having options in my games so i'm cool

This is what I think they should do ideally: two straight male options, two straight females, one bisexual of each gender, two lesbians, two gays. You might argue that it's a bit contrived, but no less so than everyone's bisexual or "herosexual".

I also believe that some LIs should be available outside of the party, the way Chambers, Traynor, and Cortez were in ME2 and ME3. Why not be able to romance the steward of a castle we own, or the captain of the castle's guard, the head cook, a maid, the master (or mistress) of the estate's hunting dogs, or even someone we meet elsewhere in the game like a member of the Orlesian nobility or a Chevalier (of either gender) who live in Val Royeaux, for example?

I know BioWare won't be going this route with DA III, but if I were writing for a CRPG in the style of games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age, this how I would do it.

I'd much rather they weren't all bisexual as well. But that's how BW will do it.

That would cost them way too much resources. They could do that but they wouldnt be able to implement a whole other feature that they wanted to put in.

Just because your character chooses sexuality when you create him (which I think is a bad idea) dont mean that the others still try to flirt with you, unless people in the DA universe all wears a badge with their sexuality.

Not a huge fan of this idea, unless we're allowed to opt out. Sometimes I like to figure my character's sexual orientation as I go along, especially for my first playthrough; it's after that when I have a good idea of who's romanceable that I plan out romances in advance.

If the "whole other feature" is crappy, half-baked multiplayer that gets stale after a couple of hours because of lack of different modes, maps, etc. then I'd prefer they use resources for what I have in mind than on a feature that sucks and I'm not going to enjoy.

I realize they won't use resources in the way I suggested, so there's no need to point it out. I'm not going to sulk about it and start numerous threads on the topic either. :)

I liked Cortez, but I didn't think it was subtle at all, you become friends with him, and when you're talking to him at the club you have two, blatantly gay options before it initiates anything romantic.

He mentions the "eye candy" and you have to ask why he isn't looking at you, then he implies that he might be and says that a few ladies have shown interest but you never responded. After that, you have to outright say you haven't met the right man, or woman. The fact that it makes you define your sexuality so clearly doesn't seem subtle to me.

Kaidan on the other hand... Maybe I'm not remembering it correctly, but I remember him coming onto you pretty naturally, if that makes sense.

With Kaidan, you have to buy him a drink for it to even happen.
