Opinions on making all LIs bisexual?

I prefer it, simply because I can play the character I want to play while still experiencing the various options. While I like my male Hawkes, I have no desire whatsoever to make a male Warden. If that means I never get to experience the Morrigan romance, then so be it. But I am pleased that it's not something I have to be concerned with in DA2.

I don't really see the necessity for a new thread though. There are several of them in both forums, all containing lots of opinions, suggestions, teeth gnashing, garment rending, hair pulling, etc, etc.

I liked how they did it in DA:O, with some LI's being bisexual while others were straight (although I think they could add in characters that are gay as well).

This meant that not every LI would be romancable, which is a feature I approve of.

I am against making all companions Bi just for the sake of variety. I'd like to see some straights or homosexuals as well.

If the "whole other feature" is crappy, half-baked multiplayer that gets stale after a couple of hours because of lack of different modes, maps, etc. then I'd prefer they use resources for what I have in mind than on a feature that sucks and I'm not going to enjoy.

I realize they won't use resources in the way I suggested, so there's no need to point it out. I'm not going to sulk about it and start numerous threads on the topic either. :)

Well no I meant something within the singleplayer. I'm not going anywhere near the MP either. I'm just saying how they look at things & that they'd probably rather implement something like... say for example horse riding maybe? I'd rather they do what you suggested too but thats not my decision.

With Kaidan, you have to buy him a drink for it to even happen.

Okay, that still seems pretty subtle though. I mean, I'm not romancing him but I would totally buy him a drink. I'm going to rewatch the cutscenes on YouTube and see if it's as subtle as it sounds.

I'm sure you're right, but I did look beforehand and I didn't see any. Plus everyone's saying they got locked anyway. Regardless, I am sorry for any repeat threads.

I don't worry about the sexual orientation of characters I'm not currently romancing. They have their own identities, outside of whether my PC can flirt with them.

But as long as we have romance options in Bioware games, I'd like as much choice as possible. Even if that means the choice to not romance anyone at all, if I don't think it's appropriate, and especially if that means that I can romance a character I like the most despite the arbitrary choice of gender of the player character.

Yes they should be left as bisexual...People should have that choice

I for one are really happy that they did that in DA2. Somehow people in Thedas are more sexually liberated than people in Milky Way galaxy in year 2180s.... Go figure...

I thought the same thing when I was playing Skyrim.

@Teryn

Actually no that's a fair point. I don't have to romance them if I'm not attracted to them. I guess I'm still sore about the whole Anders thing...(God that sounds so wrong haha!) What I mean is I would prefer to be the one who has to initiate the romance not them.

Oh look, it's *this* thread again.

Can I save you all some time?

- They didn't explicitly say they were bisexual, so they aren't!
- Not all bisexuals declare that they are!
- It's not realistic!
- Nothing is realistic!
- They should make exclusively gay romances!
- They said they won't make exclusively gay romances!
- Sexuality is a huge part of every character!
- Sexuality is not a huge part of every character!
- My immersion!
- *My* immersion!!!
- I have a great idea! They should put in a toggle for those who dislike homosexual content! I'm a genius!

I really wish people would make these types of threads. It only ends up in flame war. I'm in favor of bisexuality unless each orientation has equal numbers of LIs. As David Gaider said, equality trumps metagaming. What others do in their game should not affect how you play your game.

Do you have this post saved away somewhere? Or do you write it extremely similarly off the top of your head every time? =D

It's a copy/paste from the last time I posted it. I should save it off someplace though, given how often the subject crops up. The response doesn't really change and it's still applicable and all.

I have no problem with herosexual LI's although I hope measures are taken to prevent ninjamances. Aside from that being hit on by someone I don't nessisarily want to romance, doesn't bother me. I was in a rivalry romance with Fenris and Anders who I was friendly with was all jealous which totally fit into the story I had concoted in my head. It also inflated my PC's ego even if she had no interest in the mage at all. So totally ruling out characters your not interested in can affect the story even if your character doesn't swing that way.

Okay, I watched a few of the vids and it turns out that if you talk to Kaidan twice in the hospital he will eventually say "Are you flirting with me, Commander?" and then stop you from answering so he can live "in the illusion". So if by subtle, we mean that it's a natural, unprovoked response, then this is pretty damn subtle.
Part of me thinks his forwardness is from all the meds he's on xD

I am for it, simply based on the practicality of it. That way everyone has the same access to the Love Interest.

Yes, for the sake of having the most amount of options.

It seems ridiculous to me, it really screws up the character personalities in my opinion. I mean, one gay and one lesbian love interest should be enough for anyone, making all romance options open to same sex relationships just makes the whole theme of "introducing "different" characters with their own strict personalities to explore" less believeable.

One straight is fine, too, I agree. Let's add 1 gay, 1 lesbian, and 2 bisexual option. Each character then has defined sexuality and no one would complain. Everyone's happy, yay.
