I have a pretty beefy system, and the first time system config tool still recommended 800x600 and low detail graphics. I cranked it up to 1280x1024 and maxed out the detail settings (except anti-alias), and the game looks beautiful. Way better than some of the screenshots I've seen.

I think everyone defaulting to a low resolution and low detail may be the cause of the complaints.

My only complaint about the graphics is really just the modelling. Some things could have looked a touch better (like dwarven women for instance). In comparison to all the RPG's I have played, and to some of the more recent games out there, however, its pretty comparable and I have no complaints about it. In fact, I love the graphics.

MingWolf are you disn' our women? U better take that back ;)

IMO the graphics are not revolutionary or anything but they are fine, they do not hinder play at all and they look nice enough. But really the story is where it is at.

i'm happy with the graphics. To be honest, i didn't think my computer would even run this game, seeing as it's a few years old, but it runs fine, granted on medium setting..but who cares. One happy customer here.

Its gotten to the point with me that I can't really tell the difference anymore when it comes to graphics. Call me old-school but I still think the 2d art in Final Fantasy 6 was revolutionary, and to this day I still enjoy playing it. That aside, I was quite blown away with the look of the game, its hard for me to tell if the graphics are "good" for today's standards, but i love it so far.

Hey skullreaver, we aren't noobs or little kids. None of us aren't saying the game isn't great, it's the textures on objects that arent either loading correctly or are low res in places. Get off your high horse and understand we are gamers. Gamers who understand that this issue is apparent and it does effect immersion when everything looks great on the characters and then there's the eyesore low res blob that sticks out next to them. To anyone not seeing this please post screenshots to counter what we have posted and prove us wrong, otherwise you have no merit here!

Currently running DA:O with nhancer at 8XAA, 16X AS, 1680X1050 constant 60fps

IMO DAO looks just fine. I care more about the style, technical side gets 100% score if the frame rate is smooth most of the time and there ain't graphical glitches (at least often or very visible such)

DAO's style is great, so it looks good.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed in the graphics. They aren't FANTASTIC and they also aren't blah. I acquiesce it my be my graphics card. It's not a top-of-the-line card- 8500 GT.

Not a top of the line card?  That's being absolutely generous.

That card is a steaming pile of sub-medium ranged GPU that's rather out of date.

2 is a known issue, 3 is a config or user's computer problem, the textures arnt loading.

And I would post my screenies but they arnt uploading to the site atm. And I'm not posting from my home computer.

Graphics are MOSTLY good, though there's some complaints -- what's disappointing is that some of them were things I thought Mass Effect did better! The weapons don't seem to sit right on the back of the character -- on the human rogue her twin daggers were quite literally floating a few inches off it -- and the facial animations seem a little bit off.

There are some serious flaws. Look at the posted Wagon picture..how can that texture even make it into the game? It's one of if not the worst texture I have seen in the past 10 years...

A lot of the game looks and plays TERRIFIC..i love the game, but I am not going to lie to myself and say those textures aren't horrendous.

Also Frame-Buffer is seriously flawed as I have said before in another post...it makes things look much worse and ruins the lighting that was intended.

Sheylan, the third pic is mine. If it's a loading issue then explain to me and others how to fix it. Not a single game I run has issues of textures not loading correctly, I run every game smoothly with my decent rig. Everything is up to date driver wise. I call it's the game. As I have mentioned, someone else please take a screenshot in the first swamp area as you enter with the wagon, and show please its not a low res wagon..then we can go from there to fix the problem

I am playing at max res, maxed everything and the game plays smooth as butter and looks amazing. I think most people that complain are new to PC gaming because I just can't see where they get off saying this game looks bad.

Not everyone can agree on the same things, can they? Because someone does not like the graphics,it does not mean they are new to PC gaming. From what i have seen, the graphic are not as amazing as you are making out.

Look at this leak of The Witcher 2 "assassin of kings"

Until someone posts a picture of ANY wagon in the game that looks good..then your statement is invalid.  There is no proof there is a bug with the texture..and also why is it happening to everyone?   I have run into three wagons in the game so far in three different areas..and that is how the texture looks.  God I HOPE that is a bug or something..because that texture is HORRIBLE.

But until someone posts a picture that shows otherwise or Bioware admits this is some sort of error, I will continue to say that this texture is flat out bad and inexcusable really.

And I AM a BioWare fanboy..I absolutely love them, and I Love this game..and I think most of it looks terrific and the voices are the best I've heard in any game..but it doesn't cover the bad textures..thank God I found the frame-buffer thing because turning it off makes a huge difference.

Exactly...and again it's not a huge deal...but there are so many or at least a noticable amount of wagons in the game that I don't see how anyone testing this game could not see that texture and think..whoa...this has got to be changed.  It's one thing to have flat textures without a look of bumpmapping (not sure if there is or not), but even then you cane make something look nice with a hi-res texture.. and in this case..all of the above is lacking.

Flat texture: Check
Blurry texture: Check
low res texture: Check
Bad texture: Check

I don't get where people can say that either. Go play Planescape Torment, or Icewind Dale, THEN come back and complain about graphics. The game looks great for what it is. Way better than BG, Icewindale, NWN1 & 2, etc... What where you expecting more? I just don't get it it. I didin't find Crysis to be all that. I mean, I felt after the novelty of the suit and combat system wore off, it was actually pretty damn boring and repetitive, exactly like Far Cry. DA:O is a work of art. The whole package.

Exactly..I have backed DA:O for years and I have stood up for the game and it's graphics in the past.  I am in no way trying to bash BioWare or the game or anything like that.  I absolutely love this game..it is amazing.  But that's no excuse for bad textures.  I'm playing along and all the sudden I see the most horrendous texture in the background and it really REALLY detracts from everything..it makes me think of that instead of whatever is going on...and there's just no reason...it could have easily been made better than what it is in some instances.

Again, a lot of the game looks terrific..I just finished the Lady of the Forest quest and things looked terrific under there.  Awesome lighting and some great textures.  There were still some low-res textures down there that didn't look that great..but overall it looks stunning..which makes me wonder how some of the bad textures got missed.. ?

I would just like devs to answer about some of them and how they are so poor, and also an answer to why frame-buffer looks so bad?

I'm playing PC version with everything max settings on 1900x1200 and I think the graphics are great. I don't know what game they (the reviewers) are comparing it with to say these graphics look bad.

i'm glad the graphics aren't insane, or else the game would run like junk on my pc. my pc can run nwn2, so i'm confident i can run da. when you make a game of this scale, you want more than just the hardcore gamers with $2000 computers to buy it. i love playing rpgs, but i don't have a gaming rig and can't afford all that stuff.

The graphics are nothing special but certainly good enough. This isn't Crysis, the engine is smooth and while not the prettiest the gameplay and RPG aspects are more important. I'd rather it run well than look a little better.

"do not let these stupid douche " what a way to start a conversation LOL Frankly 360 graphics ARE terrible when I get the PC version I am hoping for better.I would be happy with Jade Empire quality and that is how old now??
