Just to comment again regarding my input, Even though I agreed that the surrounding res is a bit "dated", I'm actually completely loving the graphics, They're way better than the last RPG I've been playing (NWN2), the characters and animations are so vivid and detailed, and the background is still really nice. During the cut scenes, I actually enjoy the background at "lower" res, like a movie focusing on the foreground characters. The interface is slick, controls are great, and the immersion of the story is awesome, filled with character and life. There's tons of little things that make it even more enjoyable. I think this is truly the next generation CRPG. Many thanks to Bioware for a job well done!
Cheers!
Why is everyone saying the game is bad/has bad graphics? It does not!!!

i am very happy about the graphics, even with my 7600gt the game runs great (my 200 series is currently being repaired as it died playing nwn2...) i agree with you about all of your points.

I, too, am very happy with the graphics. I am playing with the highest settings though. So I do not know what the medium textures look like. Although for a large content game, the graphics look great.

To OP: Just because a few people here are hating the game, doesn't mean that everyone is. While those who dislike the game have nothing else to do (apparently) but to complain about how this game doesn't meet their standards (probably thinking that if they will be vocal enough, Bioware will "fix" it), the rest of us are probably busy playing it.
If you wait a few weeks, this forums will be much friendlier because most haters will have left by then.
Another thing to note: It's impossible to please everyone, but I'm sure it's everybody's goal to please as many as possible. In this, I think, Bioware succeeded, as many people are pleased with the game (if not the social site).

I am putting my money where my mouth is, and posting screenshots from my Xbox 360. Despite the issues with the PC version, I only wish we had those problems. Once you see the Viking Ship, you'll understand what I mean I think. Also, we cannot get texture packs from independent sources, so we are reliant on Bioware to fix these issues.

The graphics on PC with max settings are fine. Not cutting-edge perhaps, but they're good enough for not being an issue or diminishing the entertainment of the rest of the game one single bit. Know what? I'll change 10 games like Crysis for 1 like Dragon Age and still feel like I'm getting a once-in-a-lifetime bargain.
My only real complain would be with female running animations, but that's not actually a graphic problem.

The graphics - specifically the modeling and to a lesser extent the texturing - can only be said to be "great" by somebody who hasn't played any other games in the last few years. It's not a case of low polygon models or low res textures. They just didn't do a good job with what they had, artistically. It's been a problem for Bioware ever since they switched to a 3D engine. For instance, NWN2 and Oblivion came out at the same time. Somebody load those two games up and tell me NWN2 looks better than Oblivion. I double dog dare ya!

Graphics look fine to me. I'm on PC and run graphics maxed out and with highest resolution my 22 inch monitor supports.

BTW so far I think this is the best RPG I've played in... dunno... maybe 5 years? Not that we've had a lot to choose from lately, but even so... it's a much better game than anything else Bioware has done since BG2. But I have the following criticisms:
1) The game offends my artistic sensibilities. I'm tired of hermaphroditic humans in bioware games, and weirdly (and not in a good way) shaped dwarves, and etc... I had to play a DE in NWN2 just because it was the only race I could bear to look at fro hours on end. Also, why do they always have to make the armor so gaudy? Look at that screenshot up there... is that what leather armor looks like? It's so effing "busy" that my guy just looks like a blur of lines and colors when he's moving or when the camera is zoomed out. Less is more! And what with the ugly faces? It's impossible to make a male character in this game that isn't ass ugly and having a bad hair/beard day.
2) Combat is just... not working. The combination of heavily scripted encounters and the frantic-but-automated feel of it makes it somewhat unpleasant for me. And tactical combat is something I've always enjoyed in CRPGs. That's a big issue for me. Though this, like the graphics, is much improved over Bioware's past efforts the last 10 years.
3) Bioware seems too stuck on story. Yes, that's important. And yes, Bioware does it better than anyone else does. But Bioware games tend to feel like you are just progressing from one plot event to another with absolutely nothing in between. More of an open world feel would go a long way towards making teh game world seem more real, and it would also be a lot more fun.

Complaining about graphics in an RPG shows how simpleminded, shallow and unimaginative a person is.

Yeah. Right. And that statement shows how important your opinion is, considering it's the single largest investment made by both game developers and game players.

What? I don't think "hermaphroditic" means what you think it means.

Maybe not! What do you call the males in NWN2 with their big hips and narrow shoulders and their heavy thighs and skinny arms, and their knees all knocking together? If there's a better name for it I'm all ears!
