Ruin it? No.

But I do find insanity difficulty in single player insanely easy after playing through countless hours of gold and platinum matches in multiplayer.

I bought and played through Omega last night.  It was fun and everything, but I was immediately missing all of the cool crap that's been released for MP.  Cluster grenades, Krogan melee, Annihilation Field, etc., not to mention a ton of guns that I can't use in the campaign.  And not only that, I can drop in an out of different characters and playstyles at will, which you can't really do in SP.  And paradoxically, my Soldier Shepard felt a whole lot weaker and slower than my Human Soldier, which would probably carry over to all of my other Shepards.

The point is, I just don't think that I'd be able to start from the beginning of the campaign and play all the way until the end.  Not when I can jump right into the action with my Asari Vanguard or Krogan Soldier.  Does anyone else feel this way?

Wait, this game has single player? I haven't played it ever since I realized the story lacks an actual story, and the ending is not an actual ending. Or if it counts as an ending, then it's horrendous. :wizard:

I don't think it's due to MP but unlike the previous ME games ME3 SP just doesn't have the same replay value for me, not sure why exactly. I don't mind the endings or anything but it just doesn't have the same pull of the previous titles.

I'm currently replaying SP, and it's kinda boring gameplay wise... Just cured the genophage, so far, loads of regular troopers or Centurions/Marauders but not much else. That kinda sounds like Bronze, except I'm much easier to kill. The thing that annoys me the most is the slow-mo thing when you lose shields. If I'm trying to reload my Claymore at that moment it'll always mess up with with my reload-cancel and I'll be dead because I can't blow my target's head off.
Also, Shepard has too many powers and not all of the good ones, and I miss Hunter Mode or Arc Grenades or other MP powers.

On the plus side, Cloak + Marksman is fun. Infinite Marksman ftw !

Nope. Multiplayer has not ruined single player for me, the storyline hasn't, and if you still don't like the story, Mass Effect was never the series for you, and you never should have started. Protesting otherwise won't change that. It was obvious since Virmire that the end of 3 was going to have a twist that would force you to actually make a choice rather than simply flash a "get out of moral dilemma free" EMS card. Yes, for a lot of people, the thing that made the ending bad is the very thing that makes it good, if it weren't for that twist, the other choices may well not exist. And yes, Virmire was originally going to have a "save everyone" option, glad that was changed, provided appropriate foreshadowing.

I'm only a bit salty that I had to wait five months after game's release to play single player. ;) - though in hindsight the original ending wasn't that bad, I was just angry and irrational. But maybe hindsight and knowing what actually happens after and how my choices matter kind of dampen it. I don't know.

That said, it was kind of strange getting back into single player for Omega. For starters, I built Aria wrong, dumpstatting Carnage without realising that would be her only useful power - not realising that the buff to fire and cryo explosions also applied to single player. I gave Aria a Venom and Nyreen a Falcon to stagger mobs, because henchdamage 0.3 made any actually powerful weapons useless on them. (Never mind that the Venom and Falcon actually are powerful in player hands)

Mind controlling enemies makes things way too easy, both with Dominate and the overpowered version of Sabotage. Plus cloak to negate the cooldowns. The only hiccups I made were aggro wise. My instincts forgot that henchmen don't aggro unless there are no players around to shoot, so I ended up popping cover to land a headshot on health gate after ducking for four seconds, and getting mown down for my troubles. Still, it reminds me why I, in multiplayer, am merely a game balanced version of my Shepard in single player as far as build goes. Oh, and unlike the master race, I had no problem reload cancelling, because we console players don't have the easymode shortcut of the medi-gel button, and need to use complicated presses of cover, melee, power buttons, all depending on context to get the best results. And yes, that also works for Shepard.

I still need to see the more Renegade ending for the Omega DLC though - assuming it has one, which I think is a safe assumption.

Probably actually is because the multiplayer is there. Previously, I would replay the first two games for combat, not story - and now there's multiplayer for that. I might be wrong on that, or you might be.

Now when I play single player I can't stop cursing at my stupid PUG squadmates. Garrus and Javik are total noobs who need to go back to bronze. I don't think they ever use consumables and I always have to res them like 50 times.

Liara tried to go with me once but I kicked her when I saw her lvl 1 Predator. I mean seriously, get a clue, blue lady.

Original post is full of fail.

If someone likes the multiplayer and doesn't really like the singleplayer anymore, you kind of know they're bandwagon jumpers, and nothing more.

No multiplayer characters has as many abilities as Shepard. Their level max is 20. Shepard's is 60. They report to Hackett. They aren't even good enough to report directly to Shepard.

Fear the supreme leader.

I hate it how Typhoon sucks badly in singleplayer because of the bug. Would think they'd fix it for it too...

But otherwise? Dunno, not really.

The ending of the Single Player ruined Single Player. Multiplayer is the only thing still making me double click the EXE for ME3, and even that is a lover/hate bit considering the attitude Bioware has to things like the pain caused by Geth Hunter Mode (and other 'artistic overlay crap') to part of the player base.

Did MP ruin SP for me? No.. but after switching from one to the other, it does take a bit of getting used to. I'm constantly surprised by the little changes you get used to (like having two throws as an evolution of the biotic power) that are missing in the other mode (like a kill feed... darn reapers keep getting shot by my near sighted Shepard after they die!).

No, I love both, but I hate the slow mo crap on SP though, MP spoiled that to me. MP added so much to this game, enrichment of lore and combat mechanics.

Biower needs to buff insanity difficulty in single player. make an ultra insane difficulty, where Shepard would be surrounded by the same number of enemies like in multiplayer. Honestly, the characters that get promoted in MP (and are therefore war assets in SP) make Shepard look very bad.

There is only one thing that annoys me in SP: The slow motion.
I started ME3 in MP during the demo with a Novaguard and continued to play one in SP and the slow-mo really hurts the flow of that class.
But other than that it's a lot of fun just fooling around for once as this game is ridiculously easy (always has been), even on insanity.

^This. But possibly not only this.

I find there is something about single player now which completely throws me off kilter. Whether it's the slow motion (which definitely throws me out of sync), or AI squadmates, or the  linear map design or what I don't know, but I think I know what the OP is talking about. Whatever it is, the combat in SP just doesn't give me that warm feeling it does in MP.

Dying....it takes getting used to, so I learned how to replace my ops packs with Defense Matrix. You wouldn't believe how useful it is to have a skill that can restore your shields the minute you are shieldgated on SP; the best part is they slow down time to give you the time to restore your shields. :D

It made me realise how over-powered Shepard is. Either that or stuff just goes down easier in single player. Not sure which it is

SP ruined SP for me by being generally the worst in the trilogy.
MP doesn't have the Starchild, and neither maleshep or femshep are half as sexy as a Turian, so...

Didn't ruin it for me, just made me feel like a boss, mp makes sp crazily easy.

I do miss the greater skill and character options though, I really miss being a teleporting, phase disrupting, sword killing ninja in the story.
