With the exception of say, Valkyria Chronicles, they've completely stagnated in Japan and they've fallen off the face of the Earth in the West because gamers find turn-based hard and too slow. The only exception is Enemy Unknown, and that's just re-treading old ground (though I do hope it opens doors for tactical turn based stragedy/RPGs in the future).
While I'm sitting here thinking that games with gameplay design along the lines of Jagged Alliance 2, would lay the groundwork for the best Firefly simulator in the history of the world.
The Merc System used in Jagged Alliance 2 would just go so so so well in a large game that gives you freedom to travel across many planets and is oriented on exploration, interaction and "making a living". Plus, ship combat FFS!

Max Payne 4
What, you don't think it should be made? I personally think they should do one more final game, with some proper closure for Max, (which 3 slightly lacked) then leave the series at that. I also think they should they should remake the first two games in HD, maybe adopting the style of the third game, but holding true to the originals. Sadly, as Max Payne 3 didn't sell that well, I doubt any of these will happen.

I'd like to see a Vagrant Story sequel so long as the Ivalice Team handles almost everything, with Alexander O. Smith handling the Japanese to English translation, and Toriyama is nowhere near the game's development.
+1
Love a Vagrant Story especially the crafting.

Plus for the premise of a sequel, Guildenstern said that his provincial Cardinal of the church could control the dark.

Clarification: No that's not it. The problem is your request in the context of not only the topic but the date of release of the last Max Payne game. You're asking for another Max Payne under the assumption that another won't be made already. I could've sworn Max Payne 3 came out in May of 2012.ME_Fan wrote...

Alan Wake 2. (Maybe not totally unlikely, but the best glimmer of hope is a vague tweet.)
Pokemon with more plot. (White made some strides forward in this area, but thus far in my playthrough of White 2, it seems like they backtracked and decided plot was bad.)

Seconded! I still play the original, and consider it better than any of the Civ games. I have no idea why they haven't made a new one. I'm surprised there aren't any complete overhaul mods for one of the Civ games....

Yet another good suggestion! I have many happy memories of whacky characters and map making from the old TS games. I'd love to visit that series again.
A few ideas of mine:
Kingdom Under Fire 2: Supposedly in development, but way over due. Sure the story of the previous games was basic, and the voice acting sucked, but they delivered an amazing combination of tactical combat and action that I'd love to revisit on current gen.
Something like Minecraft but with native HD graphics, real physics for liquids and objects, non-cube terrain features, and the ability to craft things yourself like cutting boards and nailing them together to build a box. I'll probably have to wait ten years for something like this though.
Everything Total War: a Total War game that spans all of history and the entire globe. You can chose to play as any nation and start at any period in history. Also comes with easy to use editors for making your own maps, units, and factions. Chance of actually happening=0. I would love if the upcoming Rome 2 Total War extended the map all the way to China, but that's unlikely. I'd also be satisfied with a Total War game that ran from 1600 to 1900 and had a global map.

It did. But Max Payne 4 being made isn't that likely, but I would like it to. That's the whole damn point of this topic isn't it? Most people in this thread are making assumptions too, so knock it off. It's not a request, i'm not asking for it, it's only my damn opinion okay?

An isometric turn based tactical game that has the player control a black ops team and encourages the use of coordinated tactics to complete missions.
A RPG that takes place in a setting with all of the normal fantasy tropes, but magic is replaced by technology.
