I wanted to have a look at the nss files for the spellscripts associated with Shale's abilities to better understand what exactly each ability does. However, onlly ncs files are availabe in the stone prisoner DLC.

Could bioware release the nss files for the stone prisoner DLC? (specifically, I am only interested in sources for these 4 files: shale_aoe_duration.ncs, shale_aoe_instant.ncs, shale_modal.ncs, shale_singletarget.ncs)

thanks

Well you can actually make a direct request but, it might take awhile.

I would recommend that you should actually ask what each ability does and etc.

Why> what do you want to do with that

re anakin5: its in [my documents]\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\AddIns\\dao_prc_cp_2\\module\\data\\designerscripts.erf

re Wolfwing0100: thanks for the info. could you enlighten me how can I make a direct request?

I primarily want to see how shale's abilities compares to normal warrior abilities. In addition, I'd like to find out what's the mana/stamina regeneration benifit from the Stone Aura talent chain.

From my experience, the in-game description does not capture powerfulness of some abilities, such as the wynne special ability: vessel of spirit, and how powerful it becomes after gaining the Aneirin's Token (which merely specifys that it arguments the vessel of spirit spell, but in fact, it doubles all the benifit from the spell)

I can't imagine they're going to let us have the files associated with the DLC at this point. If they did, people could just recompile them and give them away as free mods.

re anakin5: no password is set on the erf here, you can try to drag that file into the left of toolset window (make sure nothing is loaded in the toolset on the left)

re cstanish: I am only asking for 5 nss files, which is only part of the DLC. They released toolset, while it's still impossible to compile the DA:O from it, so I don't see any problems by releasing just 5 nss files for the DLC.

In the case of the Stone Prisoner DLC, those scripts are already in the toolset, and have been since release, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure if you played with the Neverwinter Nights toolset, but Bioware does have a habit of including DLC content in later updates (I know quite a bit of stuff that was originally in various NWN Premium Modules did get included in later NWN patches).

To the person looking for them, they are in the scripts section under  _Followers; look for the Shale folder. The scripts are in the Plot Scripts folder under that.

thanks for the info ladydesire, but in my toolset, there is only a single file under scripts -> _Followers (called genpt_party_rand_banter), I can't see any other folders or alike.
My version of toolset is 1.0.1008

May I know what I need to do to see them? thanks

I wish they could implement some way to lock down paid expansion/DLC content in a new version of the toolset so that your exported modules are encrypted to force a check for the appropriate version of the game before they will allow someone to use them.

That way, if you only export DA:O content, then anyone can use it. If you add in bits from DLC or expansions, then the end user would need to have that installed as well. That would give us builders the most power, and would serve as a great marketing tool for Bioware to sell their expansions.

That's not the important version number for you to be looking at.

Look at your Database Version line below that.  Mine says the following:

Dragon Age Toolset

© 2009 EA International (Studio and Publishing) Ltd.

Version: 1.0.1008.0

Database Version: 1.0.0.194
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the following scripts in my tooset for Shale:

genpt_shale_banter
genpt_shale_defined
genpt_shale_events
genpt_shale_main
genpt_shale_talked

thanks for the info, EJ42, my Database Version is 1.0.0.194 Although I have the same version as EJ42, I can't see the files EJ42 listed.

Also it looks like EJ42 does not have the nss files I was looking for either (shale_aoe_duration.ncs, shale_aoe_instant.ncs, shale_modal.ncs, shale_singletarget.ncs)

I do think it would be very unlikely for you to be given those files, since that would allow you to recreated the Shale character for free to players who haven't purchased the DLC.

I do hope they can come up with a way to lock down DLC and expansion content while still allowing us to freely edit it within the toolset.

The dao_prc_cp_2 resource files are encrypted (which is why you need to be authentifed online to play them)

The only way you can open them in your toolset is by using pirated version of the DLC which are not encrypted.
I'm not saying your are not a legitimate DLC owner or not (and I personally don't care), but I find somehow a bad taste to post about modding pirated DLC on the official forum.
Further more inducing legitimate users into not understanding why they can't open the DLC resources like you.
