Yeah so I installed, no problems, I loaded up the game, and no keyboard. Doesn't like my keyboard. Why?

Lol I've never seen that before. If its a usb keyboard try unplugging it and reinserting it again.
Hmm Are you playing the steam version and or have any chat program running, or maybe its even a firewall asking for confirmation in the background?
They could have taken control of the keyboard and are really ontop of the game so to speak so when you press keys you are infact typing in a chat window or something.
Try alt tabbing and see if theres a window asking for input, like your firewall asking if you'd like to allow the game hooking into your keyboard or making this and that connection for example. Or simply alt tab till the game is ontop.
Seems theres an existing thread here about same problem.
