I don't think I'll be returning to Bioware for my gaming in the future.

I highly suspect that a major reason behind these screwups has to do with EA. Bioware (from my experience) was always good with interactions with its fans right until the EA buyout, and considering how Hellgate London (which was also published by EA, though the company wasn't owned by them iirc) had similar bad-customer-relation-and-game-bug issues at the time of release it can't just be a simple coincidence.

I already avoid most EA stuff simply because of it's poor quality and support. I rather foolishly hoped that Bioware wouldn't be corrupted by their lack in professionalism by the takeover.

Not a big deal really. I used to beta test for Sony, NCSoft, etc. and delays in additional content, or patches, or expansions have always been a huge part of the gaming empire. So go get some cheese to go along with that whine! lol I don't care how long it takes for RtO to come out as long as it means it will not crash my computer with millions of bugs. Does anyone remember the very first Elder Scrolls: Arena? I think that game will always go down in history as the first game that was released well before they cleared up all the bugs and issues. I used to punch my computer monitor out of frustration because of the crashes. Do NOT want that happening with DA.

It really is incredible that people here are so ignorant of EU law.

EU law is simple. If you trade in the EU, that is if you make your product available for purchase by EU residents then you are obliged to abide by EU trading laws. That obligation stands regardless of whether the company is based in the EU. If the company is outside the EU any legal action can still take place within the EU, as the courts will deem that to be where the contract was made. Canadian law would not pertain, since EU trading laws are based on where the purchaser is based, not the seller. Now potentially there could be a problem enforcing any ruling, but only if the company decides to no longer trade in the EU. If it continues to trade, and takes money via card or paypal then there are assets to be seized.

No one has purchased RtO. No one. Everyone has gotten their MS/BioWare/Whatever points ready for the purchase. I have my BioWare points in my account, I got what I paid for. The fact the product I got them to redeem against was delayed is irrelevant. If I'd paid for RtO (or redeemed my points, whatever) and it wasn't being delivered even if there were no faults, then I'd have a case.

A good way to explain what's happened is thus: A store has put up a display advertising a product for Date X. On Date X-1 (i.e. day before release), the display is withdrawn and a sign saying "Coming Soon..." has been added in its place. The goods were never promised to anyone, no one had paid anything for the goods, no one has lost out.

No one here has a case as no one has bought RtO. They've simply bought a value of points in preperation for the DLC. No one has put a gun to their head to do so, BioWare haven't told anyone to do so, it's completely voluntary. It's no different to preordering a game and setting some money aside to pay for it, and then that game being delayed. You've still got the funds for the game, you will just be getting it later. At NO point has anyone here signed any agreement/contract promising them RtO on the 5th of January.

This was disappointing news to say the least. Someone snatch Bioware from EA please.

Actually EA usually pushes for release whether the product is finished or not. Somehow I don't think it's EA.

Tell me about it, almost two months later EA still hasn't bothered to fix the horrendous crash issue that came out with Sims 3 WA if you've got an nvidia graphic card.

If it weren't for the lack of respect Bioware is showing their customers by keeping us in the dark about these last minute delays, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

At this point I am not going to be surprised if we hear nothing from them for a while, last time we got a "It'll be delayed" post from them, we didn't even get the courtesy of an update for over two weeks, so I won't hold my breath.

Patience may be a virtue, but eventually, you either need to speak up and let your dissatisfaction with the way things are be known, or you give up your right to be resentful of being used as a doormat.

I would like to apologise to Maviarab for the tone of my comments to him.

I am sure he will also be apologising for the untruthful statements he has made about EU law. No doubt it was done through simple ignorance.

Right, there is nothing we can do as gamers so we will have to wait out this latest Blight upon the forums and play Dragonage right over again, completing all those minor sidequests which makes no impact upon the story or even your piggy bank.

Off I go to play then Image IPB cya later guys....

watch out for sneaky witch thieves, barbarians that can swoop down upon you and may the maker/the force watch over you/be with you.......

If a delay in the release of DLC or even a game is truly a damaging blow to your life or psyche, you probably need to re-examine your priorities.

So you're saying it's not ok to bash a company for delaying a highly-expected DLC ON THE DAY OF RELEASE, with absolutely no warning beforehand or any explanation on why at all? Even an ambiguous statement like legal issues would be better than that.

People have a legitimate reason to be peeved at this turn of events, so get off your high horse.

Yah I have it open on my laptop while I play on the desktop and I have to catch up 3 pages at a time when I do my random pause for bathroom, soda, call breaks every so often.  Why the hell have I had over 5 phone calls that aren't work related before 10 am?   Any one that knows me knows if I'm home I don't get up until after noon.

Secondly, most people probably expected it to be available the minute they got out of bed this morning. Bioware never gave a release time.

So all the people moaning about it being late or delayed, at the moment allw e have is Chris saying it will be delayed, never was it stated by how long it would be delayed.

So again, at the moment, it has not been delayed at all....once we go past the the 5th...then it will have been delayed...so chris 'may' have just been warning us...himself being pre-emptive and it may very well appear later tonight.
It probably won't, but all the whining here at the moment is pointless....

This is why I'm not all worked up about it.  Though it would be nice if they popped in every so oftern or like first thing this morning to give notice of something like, "Sorry it is still in the delayed status, but we will try to keep you informed when more data can be released, but for now can you please just bear with us and we will have things in order shortly."   That is alot better than the silence.

Oh and realy I just want the RTO for extra play....the armor means nothing to me cause I tend to play mages and rouges.  I allready have way better armor for all the warriors....they realy should of put duncans armor in there.  Cause it has a nice unique skin to it.  I would love to find some one that can do a dark version of the Empire of Shadow or Felon armor as a mod since i have no clue about this toolset thing.

Well since I'm home on standby at the moment I think I'll go return killing darkspawn with my AW/BM at the moment in this playthrough.

You have to understand the people at BioWare also need to have their story straight or the community will rip them apart. It would be nice if they came in and just posted right away, but unfortunately, communities are not so accommodating. The second a post comes, the community is going to start asking a whole crapload of follow up questions and are going to expect timely responses. The BioWare community relations teams needs to be ready for this to keep up good PR with the gamers who care most about its game. It's not that they're ignoring you now, they're probably just getting all the facts straight so that the community doesn't rip them a new one if they contradict themselves due to a lack of available information.

Exactly, that is why I'm not all worked up about it.  I mean cause I can't get to load this game on my laptop (still need to figure out why) I had to spend 4 weeks of boredom on a job in Brazil not playing it.  So been catching up time before I end up going off to Singapore on my next job.  If it comes out it comes out, if it doesn't than no biggy, but still would be nice to get an update.  I think if we don't hear an update by the end of business day today (rememnber this was first posted at 6:30 pm CST) or within the 24 hrs of first posting than I would say bad on there part.  Cause any update is better than no update.

I would personally expect an update today all things considered, but will understand if it doesn't come. Managing these communities isn't easy.
