But then they try to keep us informed

You apparently have a very broad definition for the word "informed". Informed would be saying "Hey we can't release it tomorrow, here's why: ... ". "Nope, not tomorrow" is not keeping us informed when it comes hours before release day.

The thing is, I'm sure there would be much LESS whining if we got a reason, which has been said over and over again. It's just irritating to see, on the eve of release, "lol srry guyse no dlc for u", with not even a "Sorry, some last minute bugs came up, and we wanted to polish it before release". What do we get? More proof that the EA virus is infecting BioWare.

I don't care what the release date is, just as long as the release date they give is accurate. If they do not know when the release date is going to be they should not give a release date. First they said the holiday season in 2009. Then they said January 5th. Now it is whenever. If they couldn't have produced by the 5th then they should not said that it as to be released on that date.

COMMON FRAKIN' SENSE!

I think we can be 100% certain its been delayed to match the PS3 release, since a universal release was their original plan and it wouldn't be in their best interests to ****** off Sony.

Then they shouldn't have said the DLC was going to be released on the 5th for the XBox 360 and PC. They should have not given any dates until the PS3 version was ready.

Well its not just the whining that is involved here dude, its about what you say and honoring it. I don't care if Biowared failed to release the DLC last December but failing to do so the second time around with a specific date is not acceptable.

It ain't 10 year oldy to **** about a product that was promised but not delivered. If I take you car for repair and promise you it will be done by tomorrow but I don't show up what would you feel?

this is most likely true.  Sony is hard on DLC vendors.

Still love my PS3 though.

Yeah true but if your like me I rather play a game with fantasy weapons than just guns swords axes and shield are a hell of alot more fun

I agree. I'd rather poke creatures with pointy weapons and smack them upside the head with a blunt object than shoot them from a safe distance. Well, unless I have a bow in which case I can poke them with pointy objects from a safe distance. :D

Honestly, I have my doubts I will be getting this dlc, regardless of the price now. I have beaten the game a few times, and mass effect 2 is on the horizon. If I had to guess, it would be the console version holding things up.

Quite a bit different than if I promised to have a new good on the shelf (costing about $15) and failed to live up to the exact date.

Your analogy is very very poor.

Doubt it. The game has been released on PS3 in europe later, and Sony didn't flinch ( normally it's Microsoft that whines when games for their platform don't get "equal treatment"). This is a rather minor piece of DLC (given the 1.5 hours of gameplay) so i tend to believe it's not some obscure platform-friendly conspiracy theory, as much as some technical problem that occurred somewhere, probably with certification.

Still, an official word on the reason and a tentative date would work wonders

And to all of you wanting to see Chris in a set of Dalish Armour, please for the love of Loki, rethink your decision. now if we get to see Corrine Kemp in a set of Dalish Armour, I am all for that.

Secondly. It is 7:15 at night here in Edmonton, so I am not even on day of launch yet. And as most common sense people have stated in here, the DLC has been out of their hands, and is with other companies now, so how do their DLC team know what is wrong when they don't have comms from xbox, sony, pc and mac staff saying here is the cert issues.

Thirdly, this is a 4 system game, you have to do a lot of work to get that happening, and these guys need breaks too. Esp when there is no effing sunlight outside before 8am and after 4:30pm so they should have weekends off too.

Fourthly, this has not soured my taste in Bioware, as they are one of the few PC game devs out there and have produced good games in the past.

Finally, I am going to get some food and watch as this column grows 10 pages while I get it dished out. thanks for the entertainment.

Rule #1 - Never go over budget.

Rule #2 - Never miss a deadline.

Rule #3 - If you must break Rule #1 or Rule #2, always, always provide a good reason.

Nobody wants to deal with a company that fails to meet its commitments without explanation. If this is a problem with Bioware or EA, then they need to look at the DLC development team and make sure they have all the necessary ressources. If this is a problem with Microsoft or Sony, then it would be better for Bioware to simply stop doing business with them.
