As long as all three platforms release them on the same date, i'd be satisfied with this delay.. it's realease was really only supose to be on ****-box today.. the other's had to wait anyways.. i'm surprised people on x-box even play DAO !!!
what's up with that x-box early release anyways ????
Given the option of consoles it's the one I picked. I'll take a stable frame rate over a 5% improvement in graphics. If I had a pc that could crush the system requirements, I would have gone that direction. This game really shines on pc from what I've seen. Not to mention the toolkit, the mods. That's really the way to go with any game like this. Oblivion for example. Its modding community is amazing and I'm sure DA will get just as much fan support.

While I will never discount the amount of rudeness i'm by now used to see every time there's a delay in the gaming market, If I may, I would say that, while no set in stone ETA is understandable, letting us know if the delay is a matter of hours, days, weeks or months would definitely help make many feel better.
I hope you understand that "there's a delay, there's no ETA, sorry" leaves people a tad wanting
And I'd like to address a comment to whoever said all the testing should hae been done by now, so how could it be a bug that's caused this? It's actually pretty easy for a bug to cause something like this. Even if testing for a game is "done," there is still a lot of time between "done" and when the game appears on store shelves. While waiting for things like certification, approval and manufacturing, testing can still continue. So, time-wise, testing can happen even when the game is "done." This is how you get things like zero-day patches.
Another concept that people have problems grasping is that software, complex as it is, can almost never be completely, 100% bug-free. That's just unreasonable if you have a product that needs to get released. During the later stages of a project, the managers "triage" the bugs. They make the hard decisions on what bugs can be fixed in the time and with the people available, and which bugs are minor enough to leave in. As the project deadline looms closer, these decisions get harder and harder to make and the bugs that are allowed through are, comparitively, bigger. Really serious stuff like crashes or causing your computer to explode in green Jell-O are given priority, but other things can get through. This is how you get things like software patches days, weeks, months, even years after release.
Finally, there's the "infinte monkeys" factor. Even working at full capacity 24 hours a day, there's only so many things that can be found by the dozen or so QA that projects get. They might have filed a million bugs each during the project, and all of them might have been approved by triage, and they might not have found anything else between "done" and store shelves, but statistically, you can throw a few more people at the game and they will see something that was missed. Add in a few hundred thousand folks with a few hundred thousands different Pc configurations or play styles, and you have that many more "testers." No one likes it, but that's how you get folks complaining about "paying to be a tester." No malice involved or intended, it's just the math.
Not saying a bug did cause any of this. I just thought I'd address that particular question since I knew the answer, and it's a little distraction for all y'all.
Thank you, Stan Woo! (hands you a pineapple)
As a former paid game tester/QA puke myself, these threads full of armchair developers really burn my britches. It's really tough not to snark all over everyone (sometimes I give in) because I know more than they do about the process. Hopefully people read your calm and reasoned post and take it down a notch.
Amazingly enough, I also know how to properly spell and write grammatically correct sentences. Something you seem to be incapable of doing, you young whippersnapper!
It's not polite to comment on a lady's age, by the way.

This statement should be banned. This was a favourite of George Brousard, notorious for his mishandling of Duke Nukem Forever, and Team Gizka authors of the restoration patch for KotOR 2: The Sith Lords, which has fallen to shambles and is on the verge of being abandoned.
I thoroughly believe that individually they are okay, but when used together are curse words.
Seriously, give team gizka a break. I don't remember them offering a service for anything but free. They can do as they wish. KOTOR 2 was in shambles before they even started working on it, so I don't see the big deal. The whole game is hardly canonical, anyhow, regardless of its potential.
It will be like a soap opera season that turned out to be just a dream, now that BioWare has their hands in the directors chair once again with The Old Republic.

Yes so I've noticed in your expansive and comprehensive list of posts on pages 178 & 179. Nonetheless even the urelated posts are there because people stay here waiting for answers to arrive and I doubt most are as happy as those posts suggest.

Are you kidding me? The day of the release, someone pops in here with "Welp, it's not ready yet, we'll tell you later why not"?
And this for a product that had already been delayed once?
Hilarious. Hilariously insulting. You had to have known the product was going to be pushed back before the day of the release, and you wait until now to tell everyone that you can't actually tell anyone anything yet.
No. No, thank you, I won't be supporting this whenever the hell it comes out. I refuse to reward this kind of slapdash buffoonery in a professional company.
As much as i was looking forward to playing Return to Ostagar, i have to say that this post rang true for me. I am going to have to agree that there should not be a reward (i.e paying money) to them when they said it would be released on said date.
I am sorry, Bioware, as long as i have been a fan, i have to say this was rather unfair to us players.
I am in no way saying that i am boycotting the purchase of Return to Ostagar (fortunately i happen to plan ahead for such an instance). The point that i would like to make (and that is previously stated with the above post) is that it is unfair to the players. I am in no way outraged because things do happen. But, understand that things like this can turn ugly and have turned pretty ugly (considering the number of posts and the overall response).
The least we could do is say that it is coming soon or announce that there will be some new downloadable content. I have learned, being ina business where deadlines are life or death (metaphorically, of course), you always plan a deadline at least a month in advanced. That way, if you happen to get things done early, it leaves time for testing and troubleshooting. If everything checks out and it is still before the deadline, release it early! I think that no one here would have a problem with an early release.
I know this is supposed to be for information only, but i have to say that out of all the posts that i have read (which was all of them) that this one was the most accurate.
My proposal, considering that it was only 400 points to begin with, reduce the price or make it free DLC. The fans of the game deserve a break, especially since Bioware stated a release date twice and didnt deliver.
Again, as advent of a gamer that i am, i understand the issue that comes with software development. At the same time though, it was a little bit of a let down. Twice....
