If this isn't a joke, Bioware must be the worst company ever when it comes to PR.

Software companies don't make their release dates often. When they do, it's usually patch after
patch after patch ad nauseum. Such is the software industry. Instead of whining about missed
release dates, pray that Bioware survives being in bed with EA. Think of Origin and Westwood,
among others, and be VERY concerned.

See, I don't get this. I really don't. It's whining to want to know why something has been delayed not once, but twice, without a reason given for the delay? I'll remind you that it wasn't until after the holidays that they finally got around to letting us know that it wasn't actually coming out during the holiday season, let alone the reason for the delay. How long should we wait this time around before it's no longer called whining and recognized for what it is: aggravation at a company that has shown itself to be crappy with communication and incapable of keeping to their own schedule or informing their customers in a timely manner of the reasons and length of delays.

Bioware won't survive EA. No one survives EA. EA is the blackhole of the gaming universe.

I am not going to believe anything that Bioware says unless there is verifiable physical evidence backing it up.

That is why they shouldn't give out release dates in the first place.  If you cannot commit then don't.  Simple as that.  I don't particularly care if Bioware surivives or not.  I expect honesty and integrity with the companies I buy from.  If they fail to be so then I don't see why  I should spend my money on their products.

Failing to meet a deadline is not dishonesty. Disorganization perhaps. They have NOTHING to gain by lying to you about a release date. They planned to sell something on date X, and couldn't finish on time, that's all.

I prefer that they give dates, like they do, rather than the classic "it will be ready when it's ready" like Blizzard does. At least with dates we can have a ballpark idea of when to expect a product.

They were great about communication before the game came out.

I'm sure they're just overworked.

And seriously guys,  all you've lost is the ability to spend your money on a new good.  Nothing else.

It is sad,  but at the end of the day  no loss.  The good wasn't real yet anyway.

I for one am of the camp that the initial post may have been to see the lollercaust that has transpired.

Asking the why about a delay is a legitimate request, and I think tomorrow that question will be answered by Bioware.

Hehe I love 'when it's ready'  That last it was used for NwN was when DLA used it for WCoC and then for NwN2 Obsidian for MoW... In both of those cases I loved the end result, and it was ready, when it was ready. :)

Then don't buy software. They all give release dates and don't meet them. Whining about integrity

won't help, as integrity has nothing to do with it. I agree that not posting a date might be smarter,

but please drop the 'holier than thou" attitude. Not trying to be insulting, but that won't work in

the software industry. Get used to it, or find another form of entertainment. I've gamed for over

30 years, and if I had dealt only with companies that met their release dates, I would have played

VERY few games indeed. :)

And you did miss to point of my post. Nuff said.

Worth to note that the starting page still says it's out tomorrow. So if it really isn't gonna come out tomorrow then Bioware should adjust that.

Blizzard/Activision are worse. I'm not religious, but I think Bobby Kotick is actually the Devil himself.

funniest thread i have read yet...(kind of like tossing an empty bag of skittles into a kindergarden class, and then chuckling as the screams begin...).

a release date is NOT a promise - it is an expected date of release for a product. i work for an electronics retailer, and ALL forms of media (music, movies, and games) get delayed at one time or another. most of the time, we get notified on the release date of the delay, and 100% of the time there is NO reason given for the delay. so take it for what it's worth - no amount of crying and whining will change it.

now where did i put my stockpile of cheese...

And all faith in a company to keep it's word and keep their customers informed of the reasons behind and lengths of delays. Other than that, nothing at all.

TBH, I don't mind the "it'll be ready when it's ready" deal. Is it mildly frustrating? Oh yes. But nowhere NEAR as frustrating as having the product in front of our faces, moments away, and then snatched up with a "lol sux 4 u" from the company.

At least with the "it'll be ready when it's ready" line, I know that it is in development. It doesn't get my hopes up that I'll wake up on Christmas and see it in the downloads section, and do that AGAIN in January.

But that's just me. I expect someone to meet a deadline that they have promised, and if they DO get delayed, to at least give me a reason WHY it happened.
