i can understand the return from vacation mode... a bunch of employees still feeling the post holiday syndromes... and that kind of makes work sluggish...

"He was supposed to be here 10 minutes ago! He doesn't love me!"
"But I was supposed to get a refund of $20!"
How great would you feel if thte reason for the delay were the death of the lead software tech or somesuch? or David Gaider?
Things come up. The measure of your worth as a person is how willing you are to be nice about it.
Save you platitudes for Gaia! If someone can accept a pattern of delays, cop outs, and empty explainations and still feel purely pacific, then the measure of that person is nothing.
Is BioWare the evil empire? No. Something unforseen happened and it is only human to be annoyed about it. So a lot of folks are blowing off steam and even more are taking the opportunity to soak in the melodrama. We're RPG fans. Damn near all of us love a scene chewing soliloquiy here and there.

Some of us bought 400 points already in anticipation for the DLC, so there are alot of people who've already "paid" for this DLC.
That easy for you to say I was sucker punched for $20.00 just to be ready for anymore DLCs.

Or perhaps it just means that I'll have very few trainwrecks, and indeed have had very few trainwrecks. Expecting the worst from people means I can only be surprised by good things. So in your examples, I expect him to be late and it has very little bearing on whether he loves me or not, and I expect to not get a refund at all. So how am I disappointed in either case? I'm not.
To borrow a line from my favorite movie: "My good opinion, once lost, is lost forever." Which matters very little to Bioware, I'm sure. For me, however, it means I can only be disappointed once by anyone, businesses included. Now that I know how they operate, I won't be disappointed in the future when they fail to keep their word or provide a timely response letting their customers know why they have failed to do so.
How great would you feel if thte reason for the delay were the death of the lead software tech or somesuch? or David Gaider?
Putting aside the complete lack of probability that a death would cause them to delay releasing something, would I be sad for their death? Yes. Would it change my opinion that they should provide a reason for the delay in a timely manner (timely meaning not waiting until a few hours before launch day)? No.

I'd say that honor and keeping your word is worth more than how nice you are. I can be nice and lie through my teeth, or I can be honest, keep to my word, and not always be the nicest person in the world. By your statement, my worth is higher if I lie through my teeth so long as I'm nice. By my measuring I'm worth more for keeping my word and being honorable. At any rate I'd say over a months worth of being patient and nice means my worth is quite high. Especially considering I'm still being nice.

Attributing that quote to your favorite movie has lost my good opinion, for at least the space of one post.

But that's just me. I expect someone to meet a deadline that they have promised, and if they DO get delayed, to at least give me a reason WHY it happened.
