You make it sound like they intentionally omitted information for the sole purpose of screwing you out of your money. Any money they made in points purchased for the Jan. 5 release they still would have made had they come out two weeks ago and said there'd be a delay. They've made a great game, we're all hooked, and every single person posting on this thread would have purchased those points at one point or another. They're not scamming anyone here. If anything, there's a chance (though a remote one) that they may lose money on further releases as a result of the handling of this DLC.[/quote]
There are these things called "financial reports". And money needs to be collected by a certain time to make it on a particular report. When you have a DLC that was supposed to be released "during the holidays" and still isn't ready a week into the new year, I'm pretty sure that there is someone who gets antsy that the higher-ups at EA aren't seeing the revenue being generated yet. You know, EA, the same company accused many times of mandatory, unpaid overtime for its employees over at the main company.
You're right...it would be silly to think that, while they can update this thread and change one page from 1/5/2010 back to "over the holidays" while leaving the main page about the DLC with no indication that it hasn't been released let alone deyaled, they just might be trying to leave the customer ignorant so they can grab their money now.
And no, sorry, there is a great chance that people willing to pay $5 now won't be looking to pay the $5 later, because a bumper crop of new releases has hit the market to distract them from a short bit of DLC. But don't let me ruin the way you see the world by introducing some manner of business savvy or a view of how the world outside of your bubble works.

The federal trade commission or Better business bureau, i believe can check into the why's as to why the web page is that way. If people feel it is misleading i am sure that they can report this situation. Nobody is above the law, not even EA.

understood, stanley. being downright mean is not a way to get things your way. i'm not sure why so many players feel the need to do this. some of us took the humor route, such as me referring to the "bioware delay multiplier" in another thread about the expansion. all in good fun. why get angry? it's not like bioware somehow gets off on screwing with people by mentioning release dates just to push them back. things happen that are out of a developer's control. it's all being done to make the product better in the end. i just hope the delay is only a couple days and not much longer than that.Stanley Woo wrote...
I dunno, DragonAge1103. Based on the behaviour of many in this thread, treating our community like children would be easier, quicker, and less stressful to us. But we don't do that.Dragon Age1103 wrote...
So your long supportive fans really have to be treated like children when the bills are getting our of hand? We can't know the reason for the delay or is it just hard to find in all 170 pages! lol. Was it really b/c Bioware felt the DLC was too short? B/c $5=hour of gameplay would make me one happy gamer
We like to treat our community like mature human beings capable of complex reasoning, civil discussion, and independent thought, no matter how they might appear otherwise when ranting and whinging and carrying on.
Chris Priestly has already given you some information, and some clarification. He has also mentioned there is no ETA on a release date or further information yet. The "reason for the delay" you keep harping on has already been given to you. No, it's nothing specific, but the specifics do not affect you. Whether it's bugs, scheduling, a mandate from higher up, a clumsy intern, my iced tea habit, or aliens, the product is still affected and we're dealing with it so that you can have the product you've been looking forward to.
Certain folks within the community believe that, unless we cater to your every whim and always do things you agree with, we are not being open and honest and that we are unprofessional, rude, or worse. If the community can disabuse itself of that belief, maybe we can have better and more informative discussions? And showing more patience than a child also helps if you don't want to be seen as one. I'm just saying, is all.

Bioware is attempting to catch Blizzard as to who can delay things the longest...
Currently I think they're trailing pretty comfortably though.

ok granted some people have gone awall (if not to some sort of extreme craziness) since they found out that the DLC was delyaed ill give you that. BUT coming out on the forums on the second release date and saying the game is delayed with no reason no ETA on when its goin to being fixed is just as bad. and then coming back into the forums bout a good amount of time later and still giving no insight when enough people did ask what the problem is (refrence to most of the people that Jenna found and put together in a post.... 2 posts to be exact) and just saying there is ETA still on that leave people in the dark and guessing not cool. ok i get that giving a thrid release date and not living by that will prolly lead to something bad. so in saying that you want to be 100% sure before you go yeah this day it will fixed and nothing is a good move. but not giving what the problem is a good 60% of this forums question. any idiot can go up to something press the ON button see that it doesnt come on cant say theres a problem. but finding out that the cord isnt plugged in and saying hey genious next time plug it in before you turn it on!! is stating why there was a problem. so jus state WHAT the actual problem is and you will kill the forum and most likely your headache of repeated questions. oh and on the patiance thing MOST of your supporters have been waiting for this before the holiday season before you started this push back sooooooo there already being patient and saying that there not...... well thats just being a tad bit on the insulting side dont you think? ......im just saying

Perhaps they are still searching for the problem..that might be possible. Perhaps its something so technical that none of us would get what it was anyways.........
I would leave the good folks to figure whats wrong, fix it..and when they think they are ready, we'll know about it.
Right?
Nagging doesn't get you anything but...closed ears and annoyance from the nagged party.
