They should have already had a solution before giving a 2nd release date of jan.5

I seriously hope you guys at BioWare man up and come clean as to the reason for this. We know one platform is lagging behind the others in terms of getting the content working, so please be honest and tell us if this is an actual technical issue across all platforms or because someone decided that everyone gets to wait for the slowest platform henceforth?

They probably did.

Maybe some random person at bioware, ea, sony or microsoft kept playing around with it and at last moment stumbled on something broken, which is important enough to abort the launch.

Things change, any release date is predicated on several things following their most likely course and no big exceptions popping up at last minute.

I'm sure they have one team for creating things and another for writing up their PR stuff. I highly doubt they leave it all one a small group of people to do everything relating to DAO.

Oh noes! The sky is falling! The end is nigh!    :P

Deep breaths, peeps... take deep breaths. I know this delay is no fun, but it's better than releasing something buggy that might cause issues in game. It's not like this kind of thing doesn't happen all the time and with plenty of other developers. Cut Bioware some slack, afterall, if you're jonesing so badly for this DLC, it obviously means you're lovin' DAO and therefore they're doing something right.  Trust me, they didn't want to disapoint folks with this delay.

In as little as a day, or as much as a week (or two) this will be just an irritating memory, as you hunt for King Cailan's lost armor while fighting darkspawn across the battle ravaged landscape that is Ostagar.

So what time do Bioware get people back in the offices to cook up a reason? at least then at least I'll know when to check back, Nothing better to do besides watch the snow here.

they will be at work in 12 hours or so.

that does not mean that they will definitely post here then.

they will post here when they have something concrete to say (I believe). They will be working hard and probably swearing, but they'll most likely wait until they can tell us something for certain. They hate disapointing their community and I'm sure they feel worse about this than any of us.

That's not to say that being disapointed is unreasonable.... Bioware make fun games and I look forwards to playing them too.... I booked in annual leave at work for 2 days when Dragon Age was being released :-)

and i hope this delay is because they are fixing a bug or something that will actually improve the DLC, if this is over licensing trouble again it is ridiculous.

Well the first problem was sony certification and some added content they implimented, after that  it was that they were on holiday break and to lazy before had to let us know it would not be out at Christmas or New Years. Now we get a very poor update saying it's delayed but no reason why on the eve of the release. If it was a tech issue they would have known days ago and should have never released that date of jan.5th for release, or at least given us the heads up a few days ago it could have gotten delayed again.

Everyone in this thread noticed that the Awakening expansion is listed as a pre-order on Gamestop, right?

Box art, details, the works. And a release date (though those are ALWAYS tentative)

Yep, it's looking more concrete and less rumour, but I won't bother looking to download it before next holiday season. <_<

Right -

but this may be connected someway with the RtO delay.  Maybe not.  In any case, it's (fairly soon) release date would make me think RtO won't be delayed until X-Mas 2010.  Educated guess.
