Ok hate on EA and Bioware all you want but please... nobody be dissin' on grammar!

You
Your = Possessive
You're = Contraction for YOU ARE

They
Their = Possessive
They're = Contraction for THEY ARE

I swear, every time I see one of those used improperly it makes my eyes bleed. It takes forever for my eyes to stop bleeding. I don't like bleeding eyes. I make students write sentences using those words when they turn in papers using those words incorrectly, then I make them redo their paper without telling them where the problem grammatical errors reside.

Rinse and repeat.

Seriously, how hard is it to learn the rules? GAH!

P.S. Ain't ain't a damn werd in our edjikashun sistim.

P.P.S. Boo delayed DLC! (On topic see?)

Rev I think those girls in your class with the short shorts and tanks are making you go batty, faster than you should've....lol BUT I must conject, I TOO HATE BAD GRAMMARRSRSRSSSRSRSR. Ironically I like a chick who's a grammar ****, oh well life is what it is.    :D Haaazoooozoooooo!!

I believe Bioware has now officially jumped onto the EA failbot!

All aboard!!

Would you care to elaborate about the EA failboat? because lately EA's quality has raised a lot, and I don't see that many delays on their games.

Maybe you're talking silly stereotypes that are now completely outdated and have no bearing on the current reality of the gaming market?
EA has stopped being the dark side of the gaming market long ago. Want to find the dark side? Actiblizzard would be your choice at the moment.

I am quite disappointed, but have to say that the official word about the expansion coming march got me excited, expecially for the ability to use the same characters we used in Origins and the fact that it's a sequel and not a completely different story. Also, a new orlaisian origin?  new customization options? FIVE new companions?
My curiosity is piqued.

I have to admit people throwing mindless praise for Bethesda like it was some backhanded way to spite Bioware make me giggle, expecially given all the delays Fallout 3's DLCs went under, despite the fact that Bethesda was greedy and answered the sneaky call of Microsoft's money to deprieve part of their fanbase of said DLCs (some here are silly enough to blame the PS3 for this delay, but there's absolutely nothing more idiotic in the gaming market that exclusive DLCs), and the general broken status of Fallout 3 in general. This not to mention just how dull and simplistic Bethesda's stories are (fallout 3 included).

This might not be the best day for Dragon Age fans, but at least the disappointment is based on a great game for which we crave new content. I wouldn't say it's that bad.

Delays on deliverables are unfortunate, but they happen. Given that they waited until the 11th hour to pull the plug means there was a problem (a bug perhaps) that they thought they could fix before release. Obviously they didn't resolve whatever issue they had, so I'm glad they delayed the release. That being said, they really dropped the ball by not even bothering to give an explanation. Bad form Bioware, bad form.

Heard of a little something called "The Sims 3: World Adventures"? Didn't think so,

And they'll reek of fail for at least a decade after Comic Con...

Nope, the only post a bioware bod has made is that first one, Torias one of the mods has posted but he just a mod and knows just as much as we do.

To find any posts from bioware in a topic just click where it says 'Bioware' on a topic and it will just show the OP and any post made by someone from Bioware. ;)

It is NOT before the working day begins. Why lie ?

Here in the UK it is nearly noon. It is nearly 13:00 in mainland
Europe. EU law requires advertising be truthful and honest. Since
Bioware know they will not be releasing the addon today, they being
neither truthful nor honest. Since they choose to trade in the EU they
are required to obey EU laws.

I suggest you quit the lying. You are crap at it.

Dunno if this has anything to do with it, but EA just laid off a boatload of ppl...

from Gamasutra:

[UPDATE: As part of its quarterly financial results, Electronic Arts issued a statement confirming it will lay off 1,500 workers by April 2010.]

Gamasutra has learned that major third-party publisher Electronic Arts issued a round of layoffs across its studios ahead of its earnings call this afternoon, with locations including EA Redwood Shores, Tiburon, Mythic, and Black Box affected.

While it's typical for large companies like EA to make a smaller round of layoffs every year, Gamasutra sources have indicated that this year the cuts have been more substantial. The company is likely to make an official announcement in its quarterly earnings report, which is due to debut later today.

EA Black Box is best known as the home for a library of Need for Speed racing games, as well as the well-received Skate franchise. Tiburon is EA's Florida studio responsible for the popular Madden NFL series of sports games. Mythic Entertainment, acquired in 2006, developed the MMO Warhammer Online and also maintains Ultima Online.

EA Redwood Shores is the publisher's headquarters, and is the site of various studios including Visceral Games (Dead Space) and The Sims teams.

Gamasutra sources have indicated that an unspecified number of layoffs did occur at EA Tiburon and Black Box. Separately of this, one former EA worker, Eron Garcia, posted on his Twitter account: "Who just got laid off: a. Me, b. Most of my department, c. HUGE chunks of EA, d. All of the Above."

Another report by Katherine Pitta claims, "Mythic Entertainment...just laid of [sic] 80 people, about 40% of it's [sic] employees." Gamasutra has contacted EA for comment, but specific numbers could not be immediately verified.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said in an EA investor note on Monday, "Recent industry weakness will likely cause the company to lower its full year industry growth expectations to negative 'mid single digits' from 'flat' previously. In addition, we believe the company may take a more proactive role in additional cost cuts and may announce additional restructuring initiatives."

Earlier on Monday, EA announced the $300 million acquisition of social game developer PlayFish, a move that reflects the publisher's ambitions to enter emerging markets beyond traditional packaged goods.

I suspect you'll have plenty of free time to wait around for RTO's eventual release afterward.

Dragon Age Origins Awaking..( Expansion ) 39.99 $

Release March 16 2010

Aggress0r

I propose we all start recognizing an adjusted calendar for BioWare releases.  We can call it BWST BioWare Savings Time.  I figure it could go something like this:

1  Brand New Title Hits Shelves--On time to 1 month, as these titles are their bread and butter and take priority.  Communication will also be good with these items also.

2  Premium Expansion Pack--1 month to 2 months.  These items have a slightly lower $$ draw and therefore are less important if a "1" needs attention.  Communication will be moderate at best, They already sold you the high dollar item, therefore, this is less important.

3  DLC--2 months to never.  These low $$ items are by definition insignificant in terms of the business as a whole.  They haven't promised you much, and aren't planning on charging you much for it.  If ANY other duties aren't getting completed, especially from items #1 or #2 above, staff will be pulled from these projects to complete the other tasks, including, but not limited to:  Taking out the trash, putting fresh urinal cakes in the restrooms, miscellaneous errands for superiors such as Starbucks, Taco Bell Border Runs, and shipping off that pesky printer in the Project Lead's office for the 15th time, because heaven forbid someone buy the guy a new one.

By adopting BWST, we can all lead more productive, less frustrated lives.  We all probably need a reminder that unkept promises, poorly manufactured products, unmet deadlines, poor customer service and general disappointment in all business transactions, from the Coke at McD's drive thru to the new vehicle considered for purchase are NO LONGER THE EXCEPTION, THEY ARE THE RULE!  Companies do not respect their consumers any more, with very rare exception.  Once they get your fairly dirty dollar, they could care less about what you think of their product, as long as they put on a flashy puppet show with neat-o game graphics on your TV a month before they release the game, they will suck you in again.

Check out www.dragonagenexus.com they have a couple amateur made dlcs and mods out the wazoo, it seems that they can crank them out with the DAO Toolkit in a reasonable amount of time, where BioWare can't.  I guess this proves the old saying  "Remember, The Titanic was built by professionals, while amateurs built The Ark."

As it's been said many times in this thread, they should have had it ready to "ship" for at least a week. Any major bugs should have been found and ironed out, especially when factoring in the previous delay.

But what a lot of these posts show is a misunderstanding of *why* people are complaining. We're not doing it because our DLC has been delayed again, it's because BioWare are not giving information. We had it with Mass Effect 1, with it's two pieces of mediocre DLC, and now we have it with Dragon Age. One of the BioWare people posted yesterday or the day before that RtO was out on the 5th, and that we'll enjoy it, but a few hours later, someone turns around and tells us otherwise. The main reason for all the complaining is no communication from BioWare. We've had no reason for the delay, we've (as far as I can tell) no date for release.

Yeah, I agree that forsaking BioWare (or EA in extreme cases) is a stupid thing to do, but it's not the first time it's happened. I just hope that Mass Effect 2 does not go the same way, although it probably will. If they keep this up, BioWare will start to lose sizable groups of players. We're not all mindless drones that will follow the carrot indefinately, and if it's kept up then our money will go elsewhere.

P.S. Miranda is distracting me. :(
