I have not been able to complete a gold collector game in the past 2 weeks. EVERY SINGLE TIME the ps3 locks up needed a hard reset / power cycle somewhere on wave 9, 10 or extraction. I have re-installed the game, replaced the HD with an SSD, even got a new ps3, its all the same, so its not my hardware I am sure.

So, I'm done with playing U/U/G. It will be specific faction and never collectors from now on, until they fix it in a patch.

EDIT: Later in the thread, Dunvi suggested to try brightness setting -2, and it SOLVES the problem!
I had been using +4 (instead of the default 0), that might explain why I had the crash so consistently.:wizard:

And how many collector game have you tried? I did nothing but silver collectors last night and it was fine.
Either you are exaggerating or are very unlucky.

where's that thread onityme started..

I can attest that this happens more often on gold than silver. I can only put it down to more instances of the visual havoc the collectors love to cause on screen.

Or it might just be the Praetorians launching fart-missiles. You know, with them standing up all straight-legged and angling their behinds skywards.

I usually can complete Collectors on gold with no trouble hardware-wise, but if either the host or myself has played quite a couples of games already, it'll eventually lead to a memory leak and the Ps3 will just freeze, requiring an hard reset. It can actually happen against all factions I think, although it never happened to me when playing against Geths. Playing Collectors on either Gold or Platinum just dramatically increase the chance of this happening.

Never had it happen to me with Collectors but I've frozen on Cerberus at least three times and it wasn't on Gold or Plat.

I've had similar problems, and stopped U/U/G a couple of weeks back. I have not had issues on Bronze/Silver w/ collectors, but gold is a timebomb. I can usually get through 1 game, but the 2nd or 3rd will freeze me (and all players sometimes).

Yup, this happens to me quite a bit on gold collector matches. I'm pretty sure it has to do with too much crap going on, particularly praetorians using their beams and husks exploding.

Wasn't too many, maybe 6-7 (thanks to the rng on u/u/g), but each time I got the lock-up. Mind you as others mentioned it seems to be specific to gold/plat games.

I have this to and I am on xbox, been getting hard freezes a lot lately. I have also noticed it more on gold, maybe because there is more heavy units.

Collectors/Gold

The times it keeps happening, I think is when two praetorians are firing/about to fire their lasers and something else "big" (exposion/posessed swarmer exploding/etc.) happens. I think people also stated it happens more so after a long session so after a Gold/Collectors game I suggest restarting PS3 just in case.

If I'm playing more than 4 games I typically have to restart - connection issues, plummeting frame rate, etc. It started happening when Retaliation came out. Haven't had a hard freeze since the Omega patch but we'll see.

I stopped playing UUG a while ago because of this. We end up picking our faction to avoid freezing and take on the Collectors in Silver and Bronze because it's so unbearable.

Lately I've just been grinding 200 waves on Bronze, so I haven't played gold in the longest time.

Yep, still happens all too frequently...and BioWare still isn't interested in responding to this. I guess they're trying the ol' "ignore it and maybe it'll go away" strategy. Very dissapointed in BioWare's lack of response on this issue.

I've only had it happen on hazard maps w/collectors. But yes quite annoying, especially since it tends to happen on wave 8,9 or 10

Used to happen a lot for me. The rng would select Collectors then the next game no matter the enemy it was either a freeze, massive frame drops throughout or those both happened

I can complete one no problem, but system goes to crap after that. This game is very hard on the PS3.

I have seen it in the past, but I haven't had any problems lately.

Play on mostly U/U/G and get collectors occasionally.

My PS3 is a few years old and does some major chugging in the single-player (vendor menus and Presidium Commons), but I don't have any problem playing Collectors on Gold. I don't believe I've ever had the misfortune of drawing them more than twice in a row, though.

Is this happening on the Xbox and PC too or just on the PS3?

It's has gotten to the point that after every match against the collectors I restart my PS3 just to be safe.

as long as the game is quick and not too many things happens, your ps3 shouldn't die on you
i remember it was some kind of memory issue, so it makes sense it's more likely to happen on gold

Happened to me yesterday.

Collectors/Gold/Vancouver. can't say it was U/U/G because I was dropped in in the middle of the 1st wave.

The game was going smooth. no drop in frames of lag. It just crashed in wave 7. I was kicking ass. so sad.

Do these abrupt crashes damage our ps3?

In my free time I've been testing the conditions under which this issue seems to accure. It's something that is relatively exclusive to Gold and Platinum as far as I can tell. I've never had it happen on Bronze and only once on Silver.

Certain maps (Goddess, Condor, Giant and any Hazard map from my expierence) are the most troublesome when dealing with Collectors. The host will start to see frame rate drops before the game actually freezes. Usually they are most noticable on Objective Waves.

The more people playing in the lobby the greater chance the game will lockup. The game locks up for everyone as well, which is strange in my opinion, because the only other online MP game I've had which locks up time to time is Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, and when it does it's only a single person who locks up, never the whole squad.

This is 100% consistent with what I've observed.  Thanks for taking the time to look into this more methodically.
