because variety.
Plus I always liked the asari from the lore/universe.
AJA will always be one of my fave kits.
All of the above. Plus the Asari's capability to get out of the way quickly (faster equivalent to combat roll) has saved my butt countless times. The only things stopping me from a gold extraction are unfortunate sync kills or disconnects ;-)

The Kroguard without a Reegar just isn't that great a character.

everybody says Geth Infiltrator has the highest DPS - look here is my vid.
So - why do like or love Asari ?
Why are they the Number 1 pick - when you play MP ?
Why do you play an AV when the Krogan is so much better, why don´t you bother and pick the AV ?
So whats it ?
There is more to playing a game than having the highest damage output. What if I don't like the Geth? What if I don't like the way the Geth characters look? Or the way they sound? Or the way they move? What if I just don't like the Geth's skill set? Or playstyle? Or what if I like to stick to the lore of the game and believe that the Geth aren't supposed to be playable? Or what if I don't want to make things more difficult on my squad? Choosing a Geth character while fighting against the Geth just makes things harder on your squadmates. (I can't tell you how many times I end up shootng my own Geth squadmates in matches against the Geth.)
There are many reasons why people might prefer one character over another. Damage output is just one of many reasons why people might prefer certain characters. There is more to the game than just having the highest DPS. And that goes for all games.
Some of the reasons why people prefer certain characters (this goes for all games):
-the look of the character;
-the playstyle of the character;
-the skill set of the character;
-the role the character playes in the game's lore;
-role play purposes (some people are into that);
-the ease-of-use of the character;
-the challenge that the harder-to-use characters provide;
-the backstory of the character;
-different tastes and preferences of the players;
-the variety that some characters offer;
-what the character represents in the game;
Some people might only be interested in highest damage per second and topping scoreboards, but many people play games for more than just meaningless score cards. (They are meaningless. Think about it. So you scored the highest in a world that does not exist in reality against a bunch of 1's and 0's presented as fictional characters on a screen and controlled by a thing that is not even alive, (the CPU). Big effing deal. Do you feel like a man now?)
For many people video games are about much more than that. Which is why many people will have certain favorite characters and/or weapons regardless of DPS.
I just laugh at people who like to brag about their video game prowess. Why don't you go and do something for the betterment of mankind? Like solve world hunger? THEN you'll actually have something to brag about. Who cares if you have the highest DPS in a video game? The point of video games is to have fun. Just imagine how boring this game would be if everybody just used the Geth Infiltrator. (Or as I like to call them, the glorified talking trash cans).

Love how your style slowly changed from objective explanation to near-madness at the end.
You just won +9000 internets for this paragraph alone.

Krogan vanguard is the most boring vanguard in my opinion.
First off I love the Krogan. They've been one of my all time favorite alien species in the ME universe ever since the awesomeness of Urdnot Wrex in ME1. (Easily THE coolest and most badass character that BioWare have ever created.) But I do find that the Krogan characters in the ME3 multiplayer are very boring to use. For me at least. All of them are just so boring to play with. Krogan Soldier, Krogan Sentinel, Krogan Vanguard, they are just so boring to use, even when trying out different ways of building and using them. Which is why you won't ever see me using a Krogan in ME3 multiplayer.
