Can you play warden's keep after beating the game without making a new character?

Yes. Just go to the Epilogue auto-save.

Yes. When you have finished, defeated the Archdemon, spoken to those of your companions who survived and remained, walk out the doors. There is an auto-save that takes you to another time and place. You can then do dlc quests.

I walked out but only got an autosave that was still within the castle?

Gary, I finished over a week ago on the only complete playthrough, so I'm a little fuzzy on what I did. And I'd already done the dlc, so I didn't really pay a lot of attention.
From memory, just exit the game. Go to the main menu and select that character. Look at the saves. There should be one marked 'Post campaign saves - 1 - Epilogue". Load it.
