Maybe she never should have gotten it in the first place...........

This. How and why VS suddenly become a Spectre - is a mistery. And in case of xenophobic Ash - is double so.

She'd have to be playing a *very* long game to be in on it, given that she either allows Udina to be killed or kills him herself and, in turn, lets the entire coup attempt fail.

The fallout after the Cerberus attack on the Citadel is one of the greatest missed opportunities by the writers of Mass Effect 3: especially if Ashley is the Virmire Survivor! Given Ashley`s family military history. I think the Council and Alliance would have been more suspicious of her... The fact that she was the only surviving operative left guarding the Council is suspect. It reminds me of how Shep can read a report on Eden Prime of Cerberus operatives making it look like they were trying to kill one of thier own when they weren`t. And hell... even Diana Allers has quite a bit to say about Ash yet another "miraculous" survival.

It would have been great for Ash to expierence some of what Shepard went threw in 2185. People doubting him, not trusting him, turning there back on him or scandalizing his name. Because as knightnblu once said in his thread: Is Ashley still your girl? On Horizon (and after) Ashley sort of treats Shepard like everyone else treated her grandfather, but she fails to recognize this.In 2186 even though Ash sent Shep an email apologizing for her behavior on Horizon we discover that she and Shepard just happened to bump into each other on Earth. Ash had been distancesing herself from Shep, she hadn`t visited him once in the last six months and had no apparent intention of doing so anytime soon.

So now imagine Ashley under house arrest (or in some secret prison) like Shepard was at the begining of ME3. No contact with the outside world. Her family not knowing what to think. They say "Death before dishonor." A situation like this could make Ash suicidal. She did nothing wrong (except behave like a status ****, point her gun at a REAL Spectre and the man the Systems Alliance charged with building alliances for the fight against the Reapers) just like her grandfather General Williams, but heads have to roll and Udina`s is not enough.

And storywise -- I think it would have been a good move for them to go down this road with Ashley. The player would have been given a choice (just like with Engineers Daniels & Donnely) let Ash sit the rest of the war out in prison or vouch for her and give her a chance to redeem herself...

But that`s not what we got -_- No, what we got is Ash `chillin like a villian` waiting by the Docking Bay after the Cerberus Coup to have a word with Commander Shepard before he returned to his mission.

The council she was protecting.  In person.

The council that was with her watching and her protect them.

You get -2,000,000 points for this post and I think I'm dumber for having read it.

The Council that is virtually completely indifferent to Shepard shooting and killing thier "protector".

I think its quite telling that if you kill Kaiden or Ashley, the report about there death is kind of true -- mostly false. It says they died defending the Council. No Ashley died defending a man who was trying to kill the Council. That`s the objective truth. The details are that she may have or may not have been aware of where Udina`s loyalty really were.

You know how many times the person who speaks out against a group or lifestyle is later revealed to be a hypocrite. Like some who are against Gays & Lesbians are themselves homosexual. Ashley vitriol against Cerberus could be seen as her way of deflecting any thought that she might be Pro Cerberus. Like how Clark Kent looks and behaves differently from Superman. Now Ashley fangirls (or boys) like you would perish the thought of BioWare having Ash exposed as a Cerberus agent in ME3. But dramatically it works. It would be powerful, unforgetable and a very ballsy and divisive act.Much more interesting that just having Kaiden and Ashley become bisexual.

And surely you must be aware of the concept of `guilt by asscociation` If you got a ride in a car with a friend and were sitting in the backseat and the cops pulled you over and found drugs in the car: Chances are... you`d probably be spending the night in jail until the DEA get`s everything sorted out. Even though you knew nothing about the contraband being in the car.

Just because there`s a galactic war going on doesn`t mean C-Sec and STG are going to stop following the most basic and fundamental protocols of law enforcement, investigation and espionage. Everyone get`s vetted. I think your looking at this situation from Ashley`s perspective, instead of the Alliance & Council`s point of view...

I shot her because she was the only squadmate who chose to blindly stick to her beliefs rather than trust me. She did it to herself.

Oddly enough, I actually have more sympathy for Udina than I do for her. Udina acted out of desperation for Earth (with possible indoctrination). Ashley acted because she doesn't like me since I have, or had, ties to Cerberus.
