DA2 probably NOT a direct continuation?

Though most of us look forward to exploring more of Thedas, it seems to me that will NOT be with our 20+-level characters.  After all, at 20+-level we squeaked by SPOILER, and eventually defeated the archdemon -- about as Big and Bad as they come--  by the skin of our teeth.  What in the world could be a worthy challenge for near-godlike Heroes?  And if there _is_ such a HUGE threat to the world at large, how is it that **no one** has mentioned it?

I really, really think that a DA2 would essentially be DAO all over again, but somewhere off the current map.  (Kal Sharok?  Orlais?  Antiva?  The Free Marches?)

Maybe it will be BEFORE the events we just did? Like a past battle maybe?

Hmmmmm That's not a bad idea.... Like actually with the world at large not just the current map.

One of the possibilities I've considered is "Plight of the Elves". Gives the players the opportunity to take part in events around the time of Andraste, and gives us the opportunity to "rewrite history."

How does speculation about future releases constitute a "spoiler"?

I didn't read your post, but my guess is that you post contained spoilers from Dragon Age Orgins.

You mentioned place names, character names, and perhaps the two main plot events and encounters.  Post back when you figure it out.

I wonder that myself. Though I doubt the Andraste timeline, it might end up making another DA during Origins, just different adjustments and possible change of characters due to that. It would be funny to experience the next DA, with the same Warden for the beginning before he or she is killed off, go into Character Customization for the new main character... Though I will be also sad if that happens.

Maybe it is afterwars, but with a new hero? Or it´s based on the morrigan-ending.

Not telling what it is cos of no spoilers, but you know what i mean.

Ahh! I see your point.  I'll concede one point (now described simply as "SPOILER"), but I think that the Hero _does_ defeat the archdemon is an obvious deduction.

Well, why not? What's the point of having the first one called "Origins" if you aren't going to go on with that character? I'd really like to continue on with the character I made with all my customizations and the relationships I made in Origins...

But that's wishful thinking, I guess.

There's always new bigger and badder characters they can create, no?

But in order to explore DAO thoroughly, you have to essentially start over FIVE more times.  And then most likely play all of those characters all the way through to the end.  That's FIVE times that you've more or less viewed the game from different POVs.  (Which sort of suggests you didn't mind **too much** about starting over.)  The kind of DA2 that I suggest is most probable would simply be expanding your Origins selection by another six (or twelve, or eighteen) additional start possibilities.  With the fringe benefit of being for an entirely new storyline.

This leads to what I call the "James Band phenomena": What do you do for an encore after you've saved the world (several times) already?  Introducing even Bigger and Badder Bad Guys begs the question, "Why weren't we scared s***less by these things before???"  As in, "If they're sooooo dangerous and powerful, why have they NOT already devastated the world?"

well we do know one thing, DA 2 will have nothing to do with the Dark Spawn blight, since Bioware already said they want to do other stuff other then Blight with Dragon Age series.

personally I think we should wait to discuss DA2 until after they announce it has been given a release date and then announced it has been delayed and then re- announced it has been delayed again so that we are actually closer to a real time frame.

I really do wish developers wouldn't announce the game till it is actually ready to go gold. Get it to gold status, then start advertising it for 2 months, then release it.

That would be cool. The blight sort of sucked as villains...

You are perfectly right when you speak about the level issue.
In baldur's gate we had to wait 4 games (Original One, First Addon, Shadows of Amn, Throne of Bhaal) to reach level 20 with our character (except with clerics) and everything was really funny despite the fact that at low levels the D&D system (2.0) is really crappy: you're like a crystal glass ready to be crashed due to the lack of hit points and if you're a mage you can cast only one spell per day.
Now in just one game we are able to reach level 20+, to slay dragons, archdemons, lich lords and so on... too much I think, first and foremost because it screws up the possibility of a sequel with a decent playability.

But STILL I really hope that the bioware guys will be able to do something to grant us a sequel with the original character and some of the original companions (Morrigan, Sten, Oghren...). I would be happy to restart at level ten just to retain my original hero.

I wouldn't totally rule out the ability to continue with the Origins character, if only because in my epilogue it stated that it wasn't the end of her adventures (not sure of the exact wording). I'd really like to continue with her, at the very least in proper expansion. I hate when games are over just when I get all the coolest abilities and then don't have time to enjoy them.

Then again, getting up to level 20-25 pretty much wipes out the current skills available, unless one were to branch out into yet another talent tree, which seems unrealistic to me. In my case, rogue, assassin and dual wield seems like quite enough tricks for my character to keep up her sleeve. To then branch out into two-handed or archery skills seems like overkill, so I'm not sure how they could manage leveling up any further... Not to mention I'd need more quickbar slots...

that's probably tied to your conversation options post-endgame. You basically say what you plan on doing.
