Hi all, I am just about to start the Landsmeet and I am trying to wrap up all of the side quests I can. I have 9 garnets and I am 90% sure I haven't missed any. Does anyone know if you can buy any or will I get any more? Thanks

There are at least 15 garnets that I know of, 5 of which are picked up when you get the key to loot the chests in denerim

Things must be differen, I went to all of them places and nothing, Weird or what.

you need to have a party member with stealth and also have at least 1 point in stealing on your main character to pick up the denerim quests.

Ummm, just on a wild guess, check whatever vendor you sell the majority of your loot to. Maybe you sold some of the garnets before you picked up the quest. Try Bodahn in your camp, that's where I usually get rid of all my junk....

I also have 9 peices of Garnet, and I need 1 more in order to complete Untraceable. I have done redcliff, circle, orzammar, urn, dalish quests, but I have not started landsmeet. I heard that if you start landsmeet, the quest after Untraceable breaks, so I do not want to start it. Checked out http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Garnet and mentioned above, none of the places where I could purchase or steal it panned out, at least on my pc version with the latest update. Nothing is in any of the vendors, even the one I sell to, which is Bohdan. Any ideas?

Have you done the Slim Couldry Quests? One of his, where you get they key to unlock the chests in the market nets a handful of garnets.

I got some garnets from random encounters - IIRC K's assistant drops one, as does one of the ogres in the random encounter with Dwarves or Redcliffe after you have completed that section of the map.

I also remember one of the ogres in the brecilian forest graveyard dropping one.

Checked everywhere but K's assistant.  Whats that?  No luck so far...

Just done K's assistant and still no garnet, I have backtracked everywhere.

..... as has been stated. Do slim Couldry's quests. There are 2 locked chests that require a key in the denerim market. If you cannot open those chests you haven't done the quest! I pulled 5 garnets out of one of those chests.

Have you got the garnet off the Fade creature from the first summoning circle experiment in the Mage tower?

I already got the garnet off the Fade creature , and since I dis not have the stealing ability when I first talked to Slim, I cannot get the treasure chest

You need to keep garnets? Nice time to find out after I've sold a pile since they just seemed to be gems only.

Okay, first off, sorry about the incorrect information I posted earlier. I blame the wiki. After looking through my Prima Guide (witch had none of the vendors listed above selling garnets) the only vendor listed is a "merchant" in the Dwarf Commoner Orgin: Orzammar Commons. So that is probably no help either. But I do remember stealing one each from the Shaper in the Orzammar Shaperate, and the Sergeant guarding the Deep Roads also in Orzamar. There has got to be a lot of random drops, because I completed the quest and had garnets left over.  Good luck all....

I hold down TAB everywhere, I searched everywhere in Deep Rods, I stole from Shaper and the Mines Commander (there is no segent), nothing.

:S Basically if you want garnets you have 2 options...



#1) Primary place to acquire them is via stealing. I've just started a new run through the game and I picked up 2 garnets before leaving the circle tower just through stealing.



#2) Denerim stealing quest yields 5.



Like you, my very first play through I did not have enough garnets and couldn't complete the quest so the second time through I paid attention to what activities yield garnets. There are more than enough to satisify the 10 requirement of the quest. Unfortunately, the bulk of them you must find through rather mundane means.

I picked up garnets everywhere, even in the deep roads. I sell most of my stuff to the camp vendor or the vendors in Warden's Keep, if I need something back I can purchase from them. I don't think I completed this until after Landsmeet. I do the same thing hold the tab key down to highlight things around me. The Mines Commander is the guy guarding the way into the deep roads off of the Dwarven Commons. Check vendors in Orzammar.

I am also on my second game and I have used Tab key in ever area. Still only 9. I just started the Landsmeet and in the first part where you help the Queen I found a garnet on a torturer.

are there other 'gem' quests aside from garnet? i want to free up some inventory space

The mid-level gems can be given to the Dwarves in camp for XP. They accept amethyst, malachite, sapphire, and topazes. Everything else can be safely sold.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Currently in the process of going to every location and pickpocketing everyone in sight... What's really annoying is that I know for a fact I sold at least 2 to Bodahn on my first visit to camp, but obviously they've now disappeared because of the first visit glitch. Arrgh!
